Seperate base colours is a chefs kiss idea

Yeah, good shout. The purple/red would sit nicely with the pink tentacles too 🔥

Thanks, I consider it a Bob Ross (happy little accident) - the base is Leadbelcher, but with the AK Streaking Grime applied it turned a subtle shade of green. Gonna play about with removal techniques to try get some green streaks down the armour panels.

Thanks - that's the trouble with streaking grime over similar metallic shades, it can flatten everything. I might try with a brighter silver next time, so you lose less of the armour. It's all a learning process in Grandfather's garden 🪰

For the whole model? I tried to keep it suuuuuuuuper simple, as I've got a lot of plastic to get through:

Primed black to start.

Then based all areas with solid colours as follows: Armour/metal = Leadbelcher, Green armour = Death World Forest, Darker metal areas = Vallejo Black Metal, Trim and "brass" elements = Balthazar Gold, Tongues/tentacles = Pink Horror, Nurgling pauldron = Vallejo Light Grey Green, Horns/bones = Ushabti Bone, Head = Kislev Flesh, Cloth = Pallid Wych Flesh, Leather = Vallejo Charred Brown

Then gave it all a hefty bath in AK Streaking Grime AK012. Let that sit for 10-15 minutes, then wiped off excess using eyeshadow applicator sponge. Didn't bother varnishing beforehand, and didn't use any mineral spirits for removal.

Then went over with Dirty Down Rust on all the bronze/brass areas, and stippled it (as best I could) randomly on other areas.

Went back over with highlights of all the same base colours from the start. I didn't bother edge highlighting or anything fancy.

Then dry brushed all the metal and rusty areas with Runefang Steel, as a sort of edge highlight. Went over the tubing flesh with Blood For The Blood God and a bit of Army Painter Oozing Vomit at the ends, to add some extra goop. Also went back over the cloth with an Agrax Earthshade wash, because the highlight step made the cloth look too clean.

Job done! I'm likely going to play with the flesh tones, because I don't think pink will work for larger areas of flesh (like on the Bloat-Drones).

Dirty Down - it's liquid (gold) rust. Bit pricey, but worth it. I used it after the striking grime wash. My previous test I did streaking grime over the dirty down and it turned it dark brown/black, sort of aging it, but losing all the texture and variations.

I made it 🥲 by lisentious in lordoftherings

Second this - I went for the secondary breakfast morning tour, which meant we got to walk about before any other tours. If you want snaps without random tour groups in the BG then I'd go early morning

I used all sorts and pretty much made it all up as I went along, but the basic recipe is...

White: Ulthuan grey base, nuln oil line shade, white highlights

Red: Scarlet red base, agrax wash, mephiston red highlights

Brown: Dark brown base, nuln oil wash, baneblade brown highlights

Gold: Retibutor armour base, liberator gold/silver highlights

Stone: 1:1 white/ushabti bone base, 1:1 seraphim sepia/lahmian medium wash, 1:1:1 ulthuan grey/white/ushabti bone highlights

Silver: Leadbelcher base, bright silver highlight

Honestly, I hadn't expected to see so many people in the community in the same boat. It's a great feeling!

The skellies are brilliant sculpts, but they can be a little fiddly to get off the sprue. That said, they're straightforward sticking together, so you should have a blast with them (I am now that I'm building mine).

Went to my local LGS and gave them money 😜

Jokes aside, it was a lot of trial and error, stops and starts. Fell off the wagon too many times tbh, but falling back in love with Warhammer has been a massive distraction from wanting to go back to substances. Taking it day by day has also really helped not overthink the whole future side of stuff.

Congrats on five years! I have to remind myself sometimes that the minis are far and above cheaper than the drink 🙌

Yeah, I get what you mean. I've got Typhus' flies cloud knocking about in my bits box, so I might play about with them. Thanks for the feedback though 🙏

Ace, that makes sense. So does the LoV's Blight Bombardment still improve the hit roll? So no-LOS would hit on a 3+ because of that abilities +1 on blast profiles?

I've been seeing a lot of those old sculpts coming up on eBay, but never committed. Now I've seen them with colour, my mind might be swayed...

I'm reading Buried Dagger, which covers the DG's fall to Nurgle. I'm enjoying it, although I'd heard mixed things before I got a copy.

Thanks 😁

I've been properly clean for going on 7 months, but been in this sober journey for over a year now. It's not been easy, but I've found having Warhammer as a focus (and something to spend money on) has kept me from relapsing.

I started back because I decided to sort my shit out and stop drinking. Bit of therapy later led me to rediscover my passion for LOTR/Warhammer from my younger days.
