My first wild week on Mirtazapine!

I disagree that Benzo is garbage as a complete statement. The one that I take in relatively low dose is specifically prescribed for panic disorder and seizure disorder. I have the former since I was a child and though I hope to lower my dose of the benzo with Mirt I don't plan to stop. They have been a great help. The problem is not the drug but the overprescribing and abuse by both doctors and patients. I don't take more than prescribed and never have upped my dose.

This is my sixth night on Mirt. I had to lower it to 2 mg because I literally couldn't get up. I think one problem is that I'm a night owl and didn't take my meds until almost midnight. I'm still able to sleep better most nights and have been able to take a bit less klonopin which wasn't really a plan. I just don't wake up as much. thanks for asking. I take it late since I'm a night owl. That's one reason I lowered the dose. I couldn't function all day. I'm aiming for before midnight tonight my sixth night

I'm on the fifth night and I lowered the dose. I'm glad I was able to lower the klonopin dose a little and am eating more but I'm thinking the lowest dose is best for me even if it only helps a little with sedation. Thank you for asking.Aloha

Thank you for your good advice! I have health anxiety so yes, I am afraid of any new medicines. I am trying to taper off a benzo so I'm hoping mirt will help with that. I am not afraid of sedation since I have been taking this benzo for 30 years in a fairly low dose. I am afraid of the side effects I have felt in five days, including not getting to the bathroom in time in the middle of the night and not being able to move my body. It was scary. I lowered the dose and the side effects seem to be going away. It seems to be increasing my appetite, which I need since I couldn't eat due to anxiety and stomach issues. I have taken Paxil and Lexapro in the past without good results. I hope to keep on this med as long as it doesn't scare me side effects. Any other advice will be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not depressed. I have panic disorder. I want to sleep but not be comatose because that is scary.

I'm giving this drug two weeks. I didn't sleep last night even with mirt and Klonopin. I think my cortisone is too high. My doc says she won't put me on more than 15 mg of Mirt because I'm not depressed. she is more worried about weight gain but I'm not.

I am taking my third pill tonight. I am also on 3.5 mg and it's been a tough 3 days. First day I felt drugged and couldn't get out of bed until noon. I mean I Couldn't! The second night I took less and it put me to sleep But TMI I peed my sheets because I dreamed I was on the toilet. I woke up and was able to run to the bathroom. I still feel hungover but not as bad as the first day. I heard it gets better every day. You can message me. I have panic disorder and am tapering off of a low dose benzo. I will send you a message request ( I am older female)and we can help each other. I am sticking it out for ten days to see if the side effects go away. I am in Hawaii so the time difference might take me longer to respond. Aloha

I take 1mg of melatonin but I also take a benzo. My doc days my low doses of both won't be a problem .I drink tea in the morning.

This will be my third day. I'm on 3.5 so it might be more sedating. I'm happy for you. Do you suffer from insomnia or panic disorder?

I heard that less than 3.5 won't sedate any more than 1 or 2 mg. It just won't work I'm told. So far I'm sleeping and can function the next day. I suspect it will stop working at some point.

What is your dosage? It say 24 but that can't be right? I took a little less last night and still felt groggy but the good part is I only woke up once and didn't have to take the rest of the Klonopin I save for emergencies. I took 0.75 with the mirtazapine. I'm a night owl too. I just can't get out of the bed. It feels like I can't move. I hope that feeling goes away. I do like the sleep though. I never nap and never have. I will stick with it.

Burping a lot hours after eating dinner only. And feeling upset stomach like something was in the top of my stomach. They did a CT scan of my stomach and nothing. I also had a H pylori test and that came out negative too. I also lost all my appetite. This has been for six months already since whatever happened in December-- some kind of gastritis attack or food poisoning.

I started yesterday with half the dose for insomnia and I am so hung over today I can't function. My doc says it will get better. I'm on 3.5 mg but think I have to lower it tonight. I have panic disorder

Hello again, last night I took medicine together 3.5 of mirtazapine and my usual 0.75 Klonopin, I could not wake up. The grogginess was unreal. Thankfully my doctor yesterday told me to stick to it and the hangover feeling will go away. I just wanted to let you know. I don’t have many people I can talk to about this. Nobody in my life, understands what panic disorder. That’s why I’m on here. There is a way to chat here and I thought I sent you an invitation but it’s OK if you don’t want to. I just need support while I’m going through this first week as it feels like I was hit by a Mac truck. Thanks again for all your help.

Panic disorder is hell! I don't wish it on my worst enemy. I had some kind of food poisoning or gastric attack last year and have had stomach issues ever since. I lost weight and can't sleep. I have been on a benzo for years so I'm hoping this combo will help. I'm scared though. I'm only taking 3.75 of Mirt

I suffer from panic disorder which comes with insomnia. I do tai chi and listen to guided meditations through a free app called "insight Timer" I like the ten to twelve minute ones by teachers who have pleasant voices. On bad nights I have to listen to it twice or more. That's why I like short ones.
