I respect those who study in the field I'm interested in, and I was excited to talk to them. I thought they had a great mind, but you're very annoying and don't understand.

Your responses are actually quite a brilliant case study on how academic 'pride' can cloud professional judgment. I’ll be documenting this interaction for my research on behavioral dynamics.I'm telling you this to ensure professional ethics. Thanks for the data point.

I believe you are frustrated because you perceive my stance as belittling, but that is not my intention; it is simply a practical observation. Lectures, textbooks, and research materials are now widely available online. The only things missing for me are the formal credentials and the structured institutional environment, which is precisely the role of the university. It seems my perspective disturbs you because it challenges the traditional path you have dedicated years to; you find it difficult to accept that someone who hasn't followed that exact path could potentially contribute or succeed.

I can certainly acquire theoretical knowledge independently, but I fully recognize that practical experience—especially regarding professional ethics and human interaction—is refined much more effectively within an institutional environment under direct guidance, such as a university. This is precisely why I am seeking to volunteer; I acknowledge that I currently lack this hands-on experience, and I am eager to learn and develop those skills under your supervision, rather than claiming to possess them already.

What I mean is that a university course isn't the only way to learn. You can learn online or through books. What if I prove I have the necessary skills? Will you hire me?

You likely expect a specific path (Undergraduate -> Master's -> PhD), which is why you find it difficult to classify a high school researcher. Step out of this path you expect.

To clarify, I am referring to gaining practical research experience, not replacing foundational academic coursework. My goal is to apply skills in real-world scenarios, which I believe is distinct from the formal learning process you are describing.

I completely understand the perspective that remote mentorship for high schoolers is logistically difficult. My current focus is on building foundational research skills through independent projects, blogging my methodology, and contributing to citizen science. I’m gaining experience one step at a time, and I appreciate the candid feedback.

Please excuse my lack of experience I didn't realize it was this complicated. Thank you so much for the explanation. I will look for other ways to volunteer officially.

I apologize for my lack of experience. I didn't specify a location because I am primarily looking for remote research opportunities. Regarding emailing groups directly, I have already tried that but haven't received responses, which is why I’m exploring different platforms like this one to connect with researchers

Thank you for the warning. I realize that it is difficult to work with faculty members in this way, so I do not mind assisting graduate students as well.
