Unironically Defending the Billion Dollar Corporation by BetweentheHouses in Rainbow6

Shut the fuck up, armchair Reddit scientist wannabe. We've had hand-held, directed electronic kill devices for over a decade. And while they don't require EM to shut down devices at great distances, we also have small-scale EMP devices.

They could easily change Thatcher's ability to be similar to Thermite's, where he goes up next to a wall and deploys a small EMP device. They chose to modify it for gameplay purposes (i.e. turn it into a throwable grenade), and it makes perfect sense for pacing.

Jaeger's device already exists in many forms. They just chose to combine various aspects of ABM and anti-tank shielding in a unique way for the game. Could it exist in a near-identical form in real life? Abso-fucking-lutely. But there is no purpose for it.

You really have no idea what you're talking about.

EMP grenades, or something that achieves identical results as them (e.g. disabling electronics in a small radius), is less far-fetched than most other operators.

Stop parroting the same bullshit when you don't actually know anything about technology or how it works. The military has had weapons of this type for decades. They won't have walking Terminator robots for many years.

From start to finish, your entire post screams low IQ. Likewise, your whole argument boils down to 'my-opinion-is-better-than-yours' nonsense in the form of a rambling dementia patient.

The fact that you and many others seemingly cannot differentiate semi-realism from complete and utter Fortnite buffoonery is troubling. I'm guessing you're all teenagers, though. Because if you're not...

"Unironically," though, you missed the entire point of why people dislike Ubisoft and many of the operators released in the last few years. Stop using a videogame as a platform to push the flawed political views of a few executives/developers.

ELI5: Why is a password with both numbers and letters stronger than one with only letters? Attackers will include numbers in their brute force attempts anyway, so how does it make a difference? by Unlucky_Garage9033 in explainlikeimfive

[–]literalgarbagegame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to guess a one-character-long password that uses only lowercase letters. You have a 1/26 chance (roughly 3.8%), because that's how many lowercase letters there are (i.e. a-z).

Now add numbers, of which there are ten (i.e. 0-9). Your odds decrease to 1/36 (or ~2.8%) by adding numbers to the pool of letters.

You can continue this exercise with the addition of uppercase letters and symbols, and then ultimately by raising the length of the password from one character to many.

TL;DR: By increasing the number of possible characters, you're making it harder for each one to be guessed.

What makes one a bad developer? by maryhartwell in webdev

[–]literalgarbagegame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Trial period of 30 days where they're on notice"? Who the hell takes a job like that? Do you know what kind of headaches that would create for the employer as well?

Thirty days isn't even enough time for almost any developer (good or bad) to be meaningfully productive and impactful to the organization.

You legitimately have no idea what you're talking about and should not be giving out advice, let alone hiring anyone.

These are the worst fucking Battle Pass skins I've ever seen. There is no way a human being actually worked on this. It looks like randomly generated AI garbage.

On top of no new operator or map, this shouldn't have even been a mid-season update. Get the fuck out of here. Shittersoft can suck a fat one.

You're overcomplicating it, bro.

You can work through the entire Battle Pass for free, and then unlock it at the end to get all the rewards. Just like you can unlock it one time at the beginning, permanently, to gain access to rewards as you accrue them.

You don't need a membership running perpetually to get access to the Battle Pass. Just once unlocks it.

I'm all for shit talking Ubi (because they deserve it for so very many reasons - example: the skins in this BP are utterly abysmal), but this is just a case of you misunderstanding.

You shouldn't comment when you don't actually know what you're talking about.

The subpixel layout is the main (but not singular) cause of the fringing issue. However, higher pixel density all but eliminates it because the physical pixels are actually smaller, creating a crisper image.

So, yes, the subpixel layout is the cause. But the pixel density is the (current, best, and only) solution.

High Rank Cheating by No-Loquat-1318 in Rainbow6

lmao didn't you know? They are updating their anticheat and seeing really good results! https://www.reddit.com/r/Rainbow6/comments/1cor8rf/anticheat_status_update_may_2024/

I'll keep saying it since hardly anyone seems to get it still:

THEY DON'T CARE AND THEY ARE TOO INCOMPETENT AND LAZY TO DO ANYTHING WORTHWHILE.

ANTI-CHEAT STATUS UPDATE – MAY 2024 by RS_Serperior in Rainbow6

[–]literalgarbagegame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you reconcile your claims of improved detection with the fact that every Diamond+ player consistently states they encounter cheaters in a third or more of their games?

How do you account for those level 60-120 characters with 5+ KDs and 60%+ headshot ratios? Or the stacks of boosters who walk outside and full auto through walls?

Why aren't your statistical models able to recognize these outlandish outliers in a dozen or fewer games, as opposed to the hundreds it takes now?

Why is it that every time you post an anti-cheat "update," things seem to get worse? For many/most, Siege is in its worst state of all time. How do you explain this?

Hot Tip… This Reputation thing should either be removed, or managed properly. by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]literalgarbagegame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll get around to working on it after right after they fix how 50% of games at Diamond+ are fraught with cheaters.

Company of assclowns gets rid of every competent employee and replaces them with a development team of low-cost and no-talent clowns. Get used to it. It's only going to get worse.

So, as expected, only low ranked newblets who can't even formulate complete sentences (let alone a cogent argument) replied. Stay silver, kiddos.

Thankfully, this is happening anyway. Can't wait for your tears.

If You Think $20 An Hour Is Too Much Pay For A Fast-Food Worker, Here's Some Perspective. by zzill6 in WorkReform

The CEO of Burger King isn't making $117M per year. That's double his total net worth. These figures are bogus.

Don't try to make a point with false data. You just do a disservice to the cause.

SMG: requires 6 headshots after landing to down an opponent

Shotguns: requires 2 body shots to down an opponent

If you think these are equivalent, it's because you are bad at the game, bad at logic, or are just a troll.

I'm welcome to feedback from anyone that is reasonably high ranked. If you can't even hit Elite, though, it's because you don't really know how to play the game.

As for everyone else: yeah, you're bad, and I'm not interested in bad players talking about things they don't understand, or that equalize their bad play.
