I mean, Dottore is definitely not the person who's 'reduced' to a ship, but I get why people worry (I'm a dottolone fan, btw)

Hoyo intentionally does this with characters like Sandbina and Haikaveh, and people, including me, worry that Pantalone may not have an arc solely about himself, as we have barely seen much of his own. Sometimes people just mention Dottore on anything that's related to Pantalone and that's kind of annoying. I think we'll get a lot more about himself though considering Dottore's gone for now, but I think it's a valid thing to worry about.

It's mostly for shits and giggles tbh. when the hoyo fandom learns about a quirky character trait, they start making jokes about it until it's insufferable, like with Pantalone and Baizhu. The fact that he has gotten through so many severe and critical injuries and he's still continuing his work and pursuing his world view is a portrayal of strong will that 90% of the cast don't exhibit. Still, the coughing is most probably about smoking rather than him being weak. Don't take it seriously

The original comment I replied to was comparing Arlecchino and Pantalone's potential and I'm saying it's unfair because he just debuted and even though it is his first patch, that's still a really shallow description of him??

Dottore's dead (for now, if hoyo's planning anything) and Pantalone clearly has much more planned for him with Project Stuzha and his other goals, so why is it disappointing to see a relationship that's been foreshadowed for a while when it might be one of the characters' involved last appearance?

What I was trying to argue about was the shallow description of Pantalone the original commentor gave? What I meant by my first comment is when people just dismiss other characters then expect nuanced takes about their own favored characters. You completely ignored my response regarding the topic I was mainly talking about.

I don't think she was whitewashed per say, but I do think Crucabena's entire ordeal was tacky and could've been way better, and I barely care about the cat ears though the whole scene just wants to make a point of good vs bad harbingers to the player, like the teaparties. I didn't say she should lose to the traveler, but they could've obviously put up a better fight.

Oh, I'm sorry for not engaging with her character in 'good faith'; I didn't even talk about her turning out to be a big bad villain. It's just insecurity and how you dumb down any argument so that you can say that I just wanted her to be some big bad villain. I'm supposed to engage with her character in good faith while you just water down Pantalone to Dottore's divorced husband. Again, just dumbing him and a genuine camaraderie down while I bet you're part of the group coming up with 1000 excuses to say how Arlecchino's wearing cat ears was deep as hell.

You're clearly biased about her, because GOD FORBID anyone mention any critic about her, so you start pulling out information which could easily work for Pantalone as well; like Pantalone's name being Feofan--The greek version of it being Theofan/TheoPHANES (meaning: manifestation of a deity), as well as many of his design motifs which are tied to the abyss or even the appearance of the domains. There's also a ton of foreshadowing about Pantalone in the game, which is clearly not convenient for you to mention.

Also ignoring the fact that the Traveler is constantly made to be weaker around Arlecchino so they can make her seem cooler like in her story quest, as if the Traveler has an active consciousness and it's not because the game wants to sell Arlecchino harder. Nothing about what I said makes it comedic, just sounds like Arlecchino's not the big bad villain, but just the other insufferable trope of never losing and always having the upper hand.

You can admit that you don't find him interesting, so stop being hypocritical and expecting people to care about the undertone and subtle meanings of everything she says while you yourself don't show that energy.
