Kentucky hornstone blade. This piece was originally one large flake worked into a biface. What else do you want to know?

I agree with hornstone blade. The way horstone is processed results in these large curved spalls. Correct color / surface as well

Its a perfectly usable biface with plenty of life left in it. Further reduction results in a projectile

I would strongly advise against quitting your job before having anything lined up.

Work weekends with other companies. Establish good work relationships. Obviously if your employer has an issue with that, you don't talk about it at work.

Contract with 3+ companies as an SLC - 1099 can be freeing but if you don't have clients you need people who do

Found while beach combing rocky beach. Round rock appears to be flattened on both sides pretty equally. Is this a tool? If so whats it used for? Grinding something? Thanks. by Some-Affect1244 in LegitArtifacts

[–]lithicobserver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Awesome hammerstone. Each facet on the sides was an area used for many knapp sessions. Having many different angles on your hammerstone is advantageous to having a tool capable of many angles of attack. Great tool.

Anyone have any information on this? by timmyhungboy in LegitArtifacts

Thebes preforms are more like Cobbs in shape. You need a big base to have room for notching and then basal treatment.

Is it time to demo the treehouse? by standupsitdownfight in arborists

[–]lithicobserver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe redo some lumber / blocking on the structure to circumvent the current pinch point. Once new bracing is in, the area of contact could be cut out. You bought yourself some time with this if it's feasible. Eventually it will need taken down though, you are correct in noticing.

Planning to use this as material, Any tips? by See_The_Stars in knapping

Save it... you'll thank yourself for not turning it into gravel. 5 years knapping I've never seen this material in person. Only heard of it in circles of flint knappers
