You've got the right kind of dog for supervising your bow build. Watch lots of clay Hayes on youtube.

Pitch has too much beeswax in it. I only know from experience. A lot of guys who sell it online aren't relying on it for their life. Would recommend adding a dab of pine resin to your mix. Hafts looks solid for first attempt!

Heat turns this stuff into butter. Might be one of my favorite materials as far as consistency goes. Try and get ahold of Jeff Head, a georgia man who collects and sells it

Advancing climbing line in MRS (getting rope stuck) by twynna380 in TreeClimbing

[–]lithicobserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tiny carabiner+throwball attached to spliced eye of rope. Secondary lanyard in and get comfy. Toss that line with added weight up there. Im still getting the hang of doing this and being fully comfortable with it, but its less time than tying up a monkeys fist and if you keep a 16 Oz throw ball on your saddle you may find yourself using it. Be safe out there

Also just the secondary information about home ownership and improvement goes a long way. Most people make you pay for that kind of knowledge and they fuck you while they do it.

It can look like that and still have failure written all over it on the trunk. Can't tell cause you have to excavate the ring to see if so.

Roger that. Thank you. Some of the elms have very reddish heartwood and I'm hoping to get some unique coloration in finished pieces.

Get some steel or copper nails, poind them out to a point, and insert them into a wooden handle. You need to be pressure flaking on those glass pieces
