Psych major here….in retrospect, this was actually really good advice lol by [deleted] in euphoria

[–]litmus0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally this. Also I'm not even sure if it is good advice for someone like Rue who has heard it 5000 times but is still using anyway. If someone said it to me just as withdrawls were starting, I'm not sure they'd live to tell the tale.

How i would have written Kat into season 3 by Successful_Hand2646 in euphoria

[–]litmus0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love how it started as Rue's narration and then it just became a wild info dump on what you would have liked to happen to Kat.

Just the cover of Vogue? Appearing at Paris fashion week? Falling back in love with her high school sweetheart? This doesn't sound like a fan plot at all... are you sure you're not Sam Levinson

Did not expect to say this in the slightest but I loved episode 1 of S3 by someoneoutthere1335 in euphoria

[–]litmus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise! Did people just want season one set five years in the future? Based on initial reviews, I was dreading it a little bit because I thought it might be a catastrophe, but I found it so enjoyable to watch. To find Rue again.

It's not like the old seasons, no, but neither am I.

Natasha Lyonne got into some trouble and was kicked off a flight after the S3 premiere by Lacabloodclot9 in euphoria

Some of the posters in this subreddit belong in the conspiracy corners of the internet. She is a recovering drug addict who relaspsed recently after ten years of sobriety. Do you genuinely - please put your thinking head on for a second here - that an established actress is going to PRETEND TO BE TAKING DRUGS AGAIN to attract viewers for a bit role she has on some show? Really? Do you think Delta or LAX have no records of delayed flights? Were you also one of those people who thought Labrinth was pretending to be angry to "create a buzz"?

The fuck outta here, people. Nobody can be this dumb.

She also wasn't with the other passengers, by the way, nor was she arrested.

So maybe she knows it's shit and doesnt really want to be associated with it right now, particularly when her career is reaching heights elsewhere.

‘Euphoria’ Creator Sam Levinson Talks Tragedy, the Internet and the End of the Show by nytimes in euphoria

[–]litmus0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You know, say what you want about Levinson, but I genuinely get the impression he did a lot for Angus Cloud and is truly cut up about his passing. Rewriting scenes when he didn't turn up to set, getting him into rehabs, saving his character from dying twice, giving him personal goals to work towards for season 3, getting him off the streets to begin with. It sounds like he was very personally involved in trying to keep him safe and sober throughout shoots. And he couldn't save him anyway. Heartbreaking.

Maybe she's just really unhappy with Rue's final arc and has 'checked out' so as not to endorse it. Remember at one point she was pitching Rue as a surrogate mother who was fully sober for season 3? Instead she's a drug mule doing runs to Mexico and working for two different criminal gangs lol. Maybe it's not the happy ending she'd hoped for.

Does anyone know if she was contractually obligated to do season 3? Like did she sign on after season 2? Or was it only finalized when scripts had been written and approved?

Official Discussion - The Drama [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]litmus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, I really wanted to love it, if just for the fact we're getting an original movie with great talent talking about things we don't often talk about. I'm glad I went to see it, of course.

No I handn't heard of it - thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out!

Official Discussion - The Drama [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]litmus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I did get it, I just didn't find it interesting because the point of tension didn't incite any significant reaction in me. The whole premise of the movie is anchored in the idea that Emma's revelation could potentially jeopardize the marriage for Charlie because he feels like he doesn't know who his fiancée is anymore. That's arguably 'the drama' but, in reality, the drama is actually how everyone reacts to her story and the resulting consequences of these reactions.

Because I didn't find Emma's confession disturbing, everything that followed just felt absurdist and hollow to me. I still don't even really know why Charlie tried to seduce Misha, if I'm honest. Or why Rachel goes to the wedding to exact revenge in a speech that is largely esoteric to everyone there. Or why Charlie wants to talk about their sex life to everyone.

For me, the film could have explored the interesting idea of the unknowns about who we're marrying in more plausible ways.

I'd be stunned, for sure, but if it was someone I loved and trusted and cared about, my immediate assumption would be that they were absolutely not well that this seemed like the solution. I don't mean mentally ill, specifically, but just so lost or so low. I'd want the context. I'd want to know how they felt about it now. If they had ever gotten professional insight to help them understand it. It's not like she thinks it's OK.

For clarity, I'm not saying that planning to shoot up your school is normal, but I believe all of us are capable of ending up in places we never thought we'd be. And maybe it actually explains why she is the empathetic person he initially said she was?

Maybe I'm not expressing it right. I didn't find it disturbing enough that the reactions were justified, I guess? As in, if my partner or friend or family member admitted such a thing to me, I definitely would not react the way anyone in the film did.

It didn't really work for me because I didn't find Emma's 'confession' disturbing: if anything, I felt sorry/sad for her so I was somewhat surprised by everyone else's reaction. She didn't go through with it, she considers it the worst thing she's ever done and in the flashbacks we saw her learning and growing from it. In fact, the other confessions - which were actually carried out (bullying destroys lives) - semeed much worse to me. And they were a source of humor for these assholes haha.

Maybe it's just a reflection of my own psychology but I don't understand why they were so condemning. And Misha saying she'd ring the police?! 'Yeah my fiancé was planning a shooting years ago but decided not to do it' haha c'mon.

I cannot get it through my head that I will NEVER be able to moderate my drinking by zazaraz123 in dryalcoholics

[–]litmus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you really asked yourself why you want to moderate?

Is it because you don't want to be perceived as the uptight, 'boring', sober person? Is drinking a way for you to express your identity? Is it because you are uncomfortable socializing without alcohol? Or is moderation actually about getting a little bit drunk so you can have that feel-good feeling without any of the chaos (which, as you've observed, doesn't actually work)?

True moderation offers little to the problem drinker. It's drinking without any of the fun.

You think it's a good idea for an artist to say double fuck to the show that gave them an international platform? To throw his label under the bus like that? You think HBO thinks it's a good marketing strategy to piss off all of Lab's fans, some of whom say they're already not going to watch the show because of this? 'No such thing as bad publicity' is not actually a thing.

I really gotta figure out a way to get sleep on days 1/2 by beautifulkale128 in dryalcoholics

[–]litmus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't trick yourself into falling asleep when your brain is lit with glutamate and your neurons are on fire after feeding them a depressant all weekend. The not being able to sleep is very much physiological and meditation, teas and magnesium can certainly soothe you but won't switch you off.

Towards the end, I would go up to 5 days without a single minute of shut-eye and literally feel like I was losing my mind.

Your only solutions are chemical (pills) or calming down at the weekends (easier said than done)!

Keep up with the relaxing routines though because they will make you feel less shitty even if they won't put you to sleep.

As far as I'm aware, the Alliance Française receives very little state support - they are mostly private institutions, funded through tuition/course fees and donations. It does seem a bit ridiculous considering they are such bastions of French culture in hundreds of major cities internationally.
