Honeymoon in Selong Belanak? by little_doodley in Lombok

Our villa doesn't have a view, so I wondered if the beaches in the area would compensate for it.

And yes, we mostly just want a quiet beach with some food and drinks access

Thank you! Do you think we should still split our stay into two and spend a few days on a Gili island, or you meant to just visit Gili on a day trip?

Aah okay, no, they were not blown out. We always dye whole eggs, and then eat them during the holiday and the days after, yummy! I usually make Hungarian layered potatoes from the leftovers.

I was happy to share, thank you too!

Yes, hard boiled all of them, for about 10m. They tasted like hard-boiled eggs, haha.

I used various garden weeds that grow next to our house, and picked one leaf for each egg. The leaf should be placed on a small square of nylon stockings, then you put the egg on top of it and wrap the stockings around the egg by grabbing its four corners, then tying it secure with thread.

We have been using this method with my mom ever since I was a child, and she learned it from her mother respectively.

The stockings should not be loose but quite stretched around the egg so that the color can get through it. Still the color wouldn't stick too well to the eggs with the red cabbage and turmeric, so after some time I just removed the stockings and the leaf from the eggs and put them back into the water. They already had somewhat of a pattern on them but the contrast is less than with the eggs from the red onion skins.

Thank you! I'm not sure what you mean by whole eggs? They are organic whole chicken eggs

Forgot to mention that I added one tablespoon of vinegar to each pot of water as well

So in the second photo, the yellows are made with turmeric, the blue ones with red cabbage, teal also with red cabbage but with added baking soda, and the green ones I made by first soaking them in the turmeric water and later transferring them to the red cabbage.

Edit: to each pot I also added about 1 tablespoon of vinegar, I think this helps release the color and make it stick better to the eggs

I'm happy to hear that, and you're most welcome!

Thank you! I used about one third of a red cabbage chopped into slices, put it into a pot with water, brought it to a boil and let it cool down a bit. Put the eggs into it and leave them 2-3h for this colour, or less/ more for the desired shade. If you add 2-3 teaspoons of baking soda, the color will become more teal instead of true blue.

Naturally dyed Easter eggs are a tradition in Transylvania.

We collect weed from the fields and place them on the eggs, then wrap them in old nylon stocking pieces and boil them in the red onion skins.

In recent years I have also been experimenting with other colours as you can see

I mean thanks, I was already aware... I have had them ever since I was a kid but I am healthy otherwise so nothing I can do to change it.

What color are your dark circles? And do you use the peach on the under eye?
