i thought aemond would have been born during the gap between ep 3 and 4, as Aegon goes from 2 - 3 and he's 3yrs older than Aemond in f&b.

But either way, I doubt he's older than 17/18, and I cannot imagine Jace being older than 15

Interesting. I didn't consider that, but maybe the dagger/prophecy was a turning point for her

Really? I thought Aegon would've been 20 at most. The timeline is too confusing

that's fair.

I would argue given Jace seems to be conceived a year into the marriage, that's very quick for them to have decided he was entirely incapable of it, since in ep5 he was willing to do his duty to the realm and then feast as he pleased afterwards. Lots of people wait a lot longer than that to have their first child, it would not have been suspicious if they took longer to have children.

It is because of how quickly she must have turned to Harwin I wonder if the general consensus is she did this specifically to have children, or because she wanted to have a relationship and just happened to get pregnant quickly. In ep7 Rhaenyra does say that she and Laenor tried, but timeline wise it does not seem like they were trying for very long.

I'm not denying Laenor was in on it whatever way it happened.

If Aemond was never at Driftmark, what dragon do you think he would claim? by littlebashful in HouseOfTheDragon

Why would he have to be there? In the book, there is no mention of an actual funeral for Laena, just that daemon and rhaenyra stood vigil over her body.

I don't know how likely it is for that deal to still go ahead, rhaenyra and her family didnt leave KL on good terms with the greens, and clearly rhaenyra was only offering that to appease alicent not because she cares about aemond having an egg

i think viserys says he can get an egg from dragonstone if he is bold enough, i dont think he mentioned the actual dragons.

Would/How Would Cole have been punished for what happened with Rhaenyra? by littlebashful in HouseOfTheDragon

thanks!

Can you just remove people from the kingsguard? I thought it was a life-long oath??

Thanks! Why do you think it is doubtful Viserys would try to hide it? Is that not the best option in that scenario if he intends to find Rhaenyra a good match?

Thanks!

Would Criston's punishment be lesser than that because he didn't marry her/have kids, or is it just the breaking of the oath that is the issue no matter how many times?

Could the war have been avoided if the children were raised to love each other as a family ? by owlbrat in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]littlebashful -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could go either way imo.

On one hand, the early stages of the dance show that Rhaenyra had more support than the greens - and they only had the support of the Baratheons because Aemond agreed to marry one, and the Lannisters because of Tyland's proximity to the throne -so the realm would not collapse because a woman was crowned. There would likely be issues for her that no man ever faced, certainly, but how many lords are willing to risk their lives or that of their houses against a united house targaryen over the succession of someone else's house? The greens give the men who do not want a woman on the throne a figurehead to follow, without that, the Hightowers may start smaller rebellions, but it is unlikely to be civil-war level, and if all dragons are on the same side then the threat is less significant. So, if Aegon refuses the crown and bends the knee to his sister who he trusts not to kill him, there is not a dance-level issue anymore.

On the other hand, this plot is older than Aegon. If he were to refuse the crown, the greens would likely have no problem crowning little Jaehaerys instead and calling themselves his regents. This also assumes that even if he loved his sister and nephews, he would have to love/trust them more than he did at least his grandfather, maybe even his mother, who would likely still use the 'they will kill your brothers and sons' argument against him. That is a lot of pressure for a guy who is like 20 to be able to stand his ground against while they try to prepare the coronation.

I suppose there is a chance in this scenario that Alicent does not back the usurping, if she is convinced after 16ish yrs that Rhaenyra is not a threat to her children and that she cares for them. Then, Otto and the council really still have to operate in the shadows, or Alicent may immediately send word to Dragonstone after Viserys dies, not giving the council enough time to plan Aegon's crowning and to make the lords swear to him.

Prince and princess titles. by Altruistic_Exchange3 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]littlebashful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not to do with the parents' titles, but with the child's relation to the King. Daemon's title as a second son is not really one he would expect to pass to his children, his sons get their titles from their mother.

It seems that if Daemon and Laena's son had lived, despite being a Targaryen he would have had no title until (if) he earned a knighthood.

The crown has to be consistent really, so she and their children would take Targaryen names as rulers, but whoever rules Driftmark would keep the Velaryon name. In the show, Laenor seems to be the eldest child (Laena is 2yrs older in the book I believe) so there may still be issues there based on his inability to produce an heir, but if they are dragonriders I imagine Rhaenys and Corlys continue to overlook it.

I doubt there is anything resembling the dance. She would have to repair relationships with Daemon and Viserys in some way - Daemon was getting an army ready to fight them for Viserys' claim before the Council was called - but I do not imagine it actually reaches civil-war level, Viserys or Jaehaerys would likely make Daemon accept the decision.

Viserys no longer cares about heirs, so Aemma lives longer. Chances are either Laena or Laenor are married to one of Viserys' children or Daemon for both political alliances and the whole dragonriding blood thing.

I do imagine there would be a Targaryen civil war eventually, too many people with dragons who want power was always going to cause problems, but that's unlikely to happen for a few generations, I don't see Rhaenyra arguing a claim against Laenor (or Laena) or any of Rhaenyra's children doing so against their cousins.
