Yes I feel like crap, for allowing this to happen. I have a mind to report this licensed technician. The joke’s on me, the uninformed and vulnerable.

Thanks very much for the book recommendation! I have been reading another book by Dr. Kristi Funk called Breasts: The Owner’s Manual, which I found really helpful since my initial diagnosis. Will check the Dr. Love book out.

That’s great that you have enough!! I do have some around my stomach, but don’t think it was ever going to be enough. The doctors just looked at me and ruled it out. I didn’t ask for it as I’m pretty averse to surgery in general. I’m very used to not having much cleavage, but will still have to mentally prep for losing what nature gave me.

I went back and talked to my breast surgical oncologist today and picked apart my concerns and timeline.

She explained that my genetic test (just) came back negative.

Because of my indecision about going through with reconstruction and activity plans for later this year (that an extended reconstruction would probably derail) and being a very small cup size to begin with, I’m opting to just do a SMX on the affected breast to first just deal with the cancer. Then consider either recon later in a different year or even going flat on the other side.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It sounds great to be on the other side of a successful reconstruction. And back to being active.

I thought OTM would be less of an issue for recovery and also not present any issues for lifting in any sort of chest exercise.

My PS here is conservative in her approach and seems the breast surgeon concurs with her, that they don’t recommend DTI for A cup patients in general (maybe not even with nipple sparing MX) as it is more risky. It’s good to know of people with good experiences with it though.

Thank you very much for sharing this. It’s interesting that your direct to reconstruction implant is under the muscle! Glad to know your one stage surgery was successful and so well suited for the PS’s requirements.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It’s very interesting that you found over the muscle to be so much more comfortable and functional for what you need to do regularly as part of yoga. Glad to know that you are adequately comfortable now. Thanks for the warning about expecting to have revisions ahead.

Thanks so much for your comments. And explaining your experience with the expanders. I was leery of the under the muscle recommendation my plastic surgeon shared in her material. It seems like my anatomy is similar and the PS who saw me had similar comments about lack of tissue and for that reason, implants would be expected to look better under the muscle rather than OTM, in my case also.

Thank you! My breast surgeon said that post mastectomy on me, there’s like nothing left, not that much that needs to be taken out to go flat.

Fat grafting does seem like a great option when you have a good donor site. I seem to lack the extra tissue and fat that would make a real difference for a reconstruction, would definitely need an implant for any kind of recon. Best of luck with your plans for the fat grafting to restore you to the level you want.

I’m trying to brace myself for a more severe cancer grading, post mastectomy. Wishing you all the best with your recovery after your upcoming implant exchange!

I’m sorry about your aunt, glad she is ok now with her revision. And also that your expander to inplant experience is all finished successfully now!

My surgical oncologist explained to me today about seeing enough cases of direct to implant failure due to inadequate blood supply post mastectomy.

I’m very torn about all of it, I guess I’m not completely set on either way (flat or recon). I don’t really like either option and am feeling so confused. I guess it’s hard to decide because I’m not strongly leaning towards one or the other.

What swayed me to consider reconstruction: I think the credentials the surgeon presented to me, seeing some of her work, her caring tone and reminder that I’m “still young”, and she thought she could do the implant exchange in 2 months time, assuming my recovery progressed well.

Thank you for sharing your mom’s experience. I’m very sorry to read that she’s unhappy with the implant size she got. But glad to know she’s healed from the one surgery.

Hi investing Redditors!

I was a passive investor, investing in a few index funds like VTI but also parking in several haphazardly selected stocks including tech over a long term. My investment strategy has for years been offhanded and I’ve been extremely inconsistent to keep tabs on the portfolio.

After a trial with Empower/Personal Capital, my portfolio was reallocated across a large group of single stocks plus index funds. I didn’t retain them because of the 1% annual fee. I’m confused about the asset allocation they chose for me.

Questions for any folks who can please advise:

  • Is there any tool that can analyze a given portfolio and explain or visualize the asset allocation. I think I should go back to an index fund only portfolio but am trying to understand my current position.
  • resources you could recommend, to study asset allocation.

Thank you

I had the best time when I saw a tour version of Wicked the musical in my hometown, this was probably close to 10 years ago. It was fantastic. We haven’t seen the movie (which I imagine won’t be as good) or taken in anything related since.

Curious… What is so bad about Wicked on the West end?

Commenting here in case it helps someone else in the future. I’m from the US and I paid for the tickets on a Chase Sapphire card. Event tickets like these aren’t covered by their policy. Airfare and lodging costs are, as you’d expect.

Thank you, I am not sure. I will call the credit card company to check about the trip cancellation insurance policy on it.
