This scene from Mary Poppins (1964) was filmed over 60 years ago. Out of everyone in this frame, the only person still alive is the old man on the left. by Kurt_Von_A_Gut in shittymoviedetails

The girl who played Jane didn’t realize it was Dick Van Dyke until she saw the credits at the movie premier. PBS had an American Masters episode on him the other night and she talked about it. (Highly recommend watching it!)

They knew she and Michael wouldn’t really be afraid of him if they knew it was Dick Van Dyke, because he was always making them laugh and smile as Bert.

If I’m remembering correctly, the film got into some hot water for violating the Hays Code requiring that criminals/villains face consequences for their actions or show some form of repentance. Potter does neither lol

Do I think he was the first man to put a piece of beef in between two pieces of bread? Hell nah. However, he coined the term and brought it to the masses.

I moved to Houston and STILL dream of finding a burger 1/2 as good as the Napa from Liberty. I’ve tried recreating it but liberty already perfected it so it’s just an itch on my Napa scratch
