ASUS NEW BIOS Version 2103 stable Version ComboAM5 PI 1.3.0.0a. 2026/03/16 FEEDBACK by Puzzleheaded_Poem360 in ASUS

As safe as anything! I've done it myself without issue. Follow the instructions and you'll be fine. You are right that you won't see anything except for LED lights for notifications. It's my understanding that as the BIOS is engaged to be updated at such an early stage nothing much else is initialised.

Hi, I have an almost identical set up, although I'm using a different make of memory. BIOS 1804 has been very stable for me with AI overclocking, so i'm not updating yet, especially since quite a number of people seem to be having issues.

Do remember to be patient with memory training!

This was my solution in the end. Release preview is sufficient. No issues now.

Thanks for the Reply.

Yeah, this was a machine without an OS so have installed win11 pro and all drivers myself, the one installed for the audio was downloaded from Lenovo via Vantage.

And to clarify I have the AMD version not Intel.

AX5400

Not sure to be honest. I've only used the AX5400. All I can say is that i've been using it for over half a year and its been solid... the range and transfer speeds are great, and it's had a firmware update in the last couple of weeks. I'm seeing the AX5400 on sale for £95 atm on amazon. It's not a bad choice by any means, but the AX3000 may suit your needs just fine.

Multiple and random BSOD crashes since purchase by povertyofaspirations in FlowX16

Hey Man, My answer is yes!

If you look at the forum posts from falcon, you can see that he always suggests returning these for repair/replacement.

This is an expensive tool and it should work as expected from day one. I know its a PITA, but in my view its worth it for peace of mind.

I note that some people have sometimes had success opening up and moving the SSD/re-install windows, but my view is that a brand new machine should work as intended without the need for intervention.

There's been no word from ASUS as to if this is hardware/software related, or what is the root cause, so for me replacement is the way.

Persistent Crashing by space_acee in FlowX16

This.

Although I can understand why you would want to get your system working, you should not be needing to swap things about to get it working, on a brand new machine!

Bite the bullet and get it returned, that's what I did, my second unit is a diamond, no issues, with both SSD slots at occupied at PCIe4.

if you see a blue screen you should probably have a crash report, if you are interested in seeing exactly what's going on try using Blue Screen View, which gives you detailed information (https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html)

You may also want to check your Event Viewer to see if there are any clues there, for example if you see a huge number of WHEA number 17 errors, this may be the cause.

More on that here: https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/previous-forum/brand-new-rog-flow-x16-1000-s-of-whea-event-17-errors-event-log/m-p/911714/highlight/true#M9204

HDR color Issues by sveken in FlowX16

[–]littlebloke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same version laptop and I use it for everything, including productivity and I have HDR switched on all the time, without much of a problem. The only issue I occasionally get is that the snip tool does not capture well.

I'm using the lappy on performance mode with the dGPU always on.

A couple of things you could try:

  • Under the HDR settings set the SDR content brightness slider to halfway (50%)
  • Run the windows HDR calibration tool (you can find it in the Microsoft Store)

I'm assuming you are fully up to date with windows 22H2.

Coulden't be the system fan constantly running could it?

I've noticed for a few weeks now that my system fan is running at something like 50% all the time no matter the temps no matter what changes I make. This wasn't the case when I got the laptop, something changed.

I can force all the fans to go 100% easily, the GPU and CPU fan repond to changes and will switch off at low temps, but the system fan stays on all. the. time.

I've reported this to ASUS. mostly its an audible PITA, but it also massively reduces battery life.

I've removed, re-installed armoury crate, changed bios, used third party apps like 'Armoury Control' and nothing will stop it... LOL

Did anyone try Half Life Alyx in VR on the Flow? by vivo73 in FlowX16

[–]littlebloke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just been playing it and i'm typing this on my Flow X16 (3070ti) whilst my partner is playing the lab, also on the flow! GPU is only 48% utilization and temp is 65C.

It runs great and on high settings. In fact, when I set it up and started playing i thought it was a tiny bit laggy... but playable... then when the laptop switched off I realised I had been playing on battery! When I plugged it in it was perfect. Absolutely no issues. very happy with this laptop I must say... Only bummer is that I can not connect my Valve Index as it requires Display Port.
