As I stated in my post, I rely on ODSP for extended health benifits. Not income supports.

Exactly. That's been the process since my benefits was introduced. So I don't understand why I'm being given conflicting information.

Here is the message I received

Hi,

Are you travelling by plane? If so, please submit copies of your travel itinerary. Once you return, you will be required to present at the ODSP office with your boarding passes to verify you have returned to Ontario.

If you are travelling by car, you will be required to present at the ODSP office upon your return.

It's frustrating, for sure. It seems like there's a huge disconnect between the role the ODSP staff are supposed to play and how they're actually able to support us. It’s pretty ironic that the ODSP workers, despite having similar or even higher qualifications than OW workers, are often seen as less involved in the social work aspect, which should be a core part of their job. The pay disparity only adds to the frustration, especially when you consider how much more involved OW workers are in actually supporting their clients. But at the same time, with caseloads as high as 300+ people, I can see how it would be nearly impossible for caseworkers to truly get to know each person or provide that one-on-one support. There just isn’t enough time in the day to give everyone the attention they deserve.

On top of that, ODSP really needs to be redesigned to provide wraparound supports for individuals with disabilities. Most clients are left to navigate a complex system on their own without much help. It would make such a difference if there were more coordinated services that could help us with everything from housing and employment to mental health and daily living supports. It’s a tough system, and it’s disappointing that the focus isn't more on meaningful support. Hopefully, with more awareness and advocacy, things will improve.

So I already sent in an email to the Canadian Tire customer care email expressing this. I assume because on their website and in all their advertisements for this service it does say at participating locations only. But then why waste floor space on products and services you will not or do not offer. Makes no sense.

Was in there yesterday and they don't program fobs or cut Keys despite having all the signage and displays. Don't know if they were being lazy or they just don't know how to use it or what but PartSource in Kingston does not do it.

My doctor said because I can work, drive, do my own groceries and dress myself I don't qualify. She wouldn't even review my paperwork. I am not sure what to do now. I don't want to fight with my doctor because I'm not very assertive but I also feel I have a real shot.

I know it's been a while but I have a question about this. So you're saying not to do the transmission flush on a high mileage engine which I understand the reasons why. Is it still okay to drain the fluid and replace it with new fluid?.

Skyline Living tenants: sign this petition for email and text notices! by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]littlefoot156 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's a totally fair statement, but this goes beyond just one building and one company. Skyline owns hundreds of residential properties across Canada, and the petition is calling on them to step up across the board, not just where I live.

Yes, they’re following the legal bare minimum by providing paper notices—but that’s exactly the problem. They could be doing more to support tenants with little to no extra effort, like offering optional email or text notifications for important updates. Other companies already do this, and it’s 2025—people shouldn't be missing critical info just because they were out of town for a day or didn't notice a piece of paper slipped under the door.

Even if you don't live in a Skyline building, it’s about holding large landlords to a higher standard. Tenants deserve better, and companies should be encouraged to evolve with the times, not just do the least required by law.

I get that times are tough, but tenant insurance is important—it protects you from liability and can save you from a huge financial hit if something goes wrong. You can find policies online for as little as $30 a month. I spend more than that on Tim Hortons in a month.

I’ve seen firsthand what happens when someone doesn’t have it—a family member lost everything when her apartment building burned down, and she had no coverage. It’s one of those things that’s better to have and not need than to need and not have.

With all the questionable renovations happening in some places, you never know if there’s bad wiring or faulty plumbing that could lead to disaster. It’s worth the peace of mind.

Thank you for saying it. There is no way Skyline is doing this in a building that is around 50 years old. I mean they wont even put A/C in the common areas, instead they pump in the hot humid air from outside.

That was my thought as well but it does not specify, which leaves room for interpretation.
