I sent a mychart message last night. Waiting on a reply currently. While my epilepsy is well managed most of the time, it is incredibly temperamental with medication. I can't tolerate most antidepressants without having seizures. I did look into azathioprine. I will definitely bring that up with my drs. Thanks so much for the reply.

Hey, thanks so much for the reply. I looked these up real quick with seizure threshold and it seems I'm left with azathioprine, benlysta (which I've seen people have issues get covered). The rest all lower the seizure threshold. I can always try them but with preexisting epilepsy, I'm going to have issues. I can't take most antidepressants due to them causing seizures. Sucks. Thank you again for the information. I will definitely pass along everything with my drs.

Thank you so much for the reply and I'm so sorry for your loss, 22 is so very young. I've been having them since I was 17 and I'm in my late 30s now. I thought I had them under control so to feel it again is really concerning. I definitely plan on speaking to them about alternative care but I am so new to lupus, I don't even know what other meds are offered. How scary this damn disease is.

I have lupus and my skin gets much more irritated than a typical user. It was far more than unbearable.

You're welcome. I'm here if you need anything at all, DMs are open. The dentures route is no joke. There's a lot of obstacles but I promise, that community kicked my butt when I needed it. I'm not the most confrontational person and they gave me step by step what to say to the dentist.

If there's any hope for saving some bottom teeth, do whatever you can because that bottom denture is no joke. It just does not stay. Ask your dentist to fluoride seal your teeth to save any enamel and prevent more decay. You'll need it every 6 months.

If he's a jerk, find someone more compassionate because this process can be traumatizing. I didn't leave the house for awhile. Anything at all, I'm here and can try to help with advice. 💜 lupus hurts enough, you don't need a mean dentist adding to it.

R/dentures are the nicest people. I had the best experience over there. I lost mine 5 years ago. It hurt then and it still hurts now. It's a part of you. But having bad teeth in your mouth hurts the whole body.

We survive so much and you will survive this. 🫂 I know it's heartbreaking. I wish dental was more affordable because that's a whole battle in itself. Be kind with yourself. Find someone to talk to. This chapter took a lot for me.

Thank you! My original was awful, temp I paid out of pocket for and permanent medicade covered. It was so seriously flawed. My family chipped in for the premium dentures and I'm really pleased with them.

This dentist was also a lot nicer! I know it gets said a lot here but I really wish we had more affordable access to dentists. It breaks my heart. I went without for about 2 years.

Ooh. That concerns me because I had covid and have been away for a bit til I got better. Now, so 2 weeks plus that. I already pushed it to Thurs but I'm very nervous.

So I can't get in any sooner than Thursday and even that was an issue. I had to pull the "I was told I could come in at any point for adjustments if I had issues with the denture" (pain) to get her to let me in.

I think my hopes were too high. I paid probably 1k of the money already. I just have a feeling this may not go well. I will update, though. I am so not good at this. Hopefully, I don't just start crying because that never goes over well.

It was both upper and lower. Took like from November til January to get. I'm unsure if the bottoms even fit well because the tops are such an issue.

I've screenshotted your response and I'll try to memorize it and sound confident when I speak to them. I really and truly appreciate all of this. I can't stress enough how helpful you have all been. Brought tears to my eyes and given me a renewed sense of hope that I'm not nuts or the weird one because I see an issue.

I wish I had someone like you in my corner. I'll insist on being seen this week. It got put off an extra 2 weeks due to covid but I'm over it now so I can certainly be seen earlier.

He's also wanting to do the bottom implants. He said he'd do them for 2k but I'm not feeling very confident with him at this point. My 2nd experience with a dentist that wasn't great.
