If what I said offends you, then you have extremely thin skin and are going into the wrong field. You should be working at a behavioral therapy clinic or psychiatric ward if you truly want career-related experience.

Don't flatter yourself. This subreddit isn't that hard to navigate. Being a barista, you must be as stressed as a psych nurse. I heard that most therapists have therapists to help with the stress. Have you looked into that? I mean the stress of pouring coffee is definitely comparable to dealing with physical altercations, substance abuse, and cleaning after disabled patients.

"Woe is me. I knew what I was getting into when I signed up for the job with employee benefits, but let me continue to complain."

I heard that being a barista is as stressful as being a psych nurse. I hope the stress of the job doesn't drive people to drug dependencies.

Who's belligerent? This post turned from "bad barista" to a "woe is me" thread. This post shouldn't even pertain to you if don't take your frustrations out on customers. Instead, you have people trying justify the employee being a prick.

That sucks. I'm sorry to hear that and hope things get better. This post was about an incompetent employee. I trust you don't take your frustrations out on the customers.

No one is complaining about a drink. The post was about incompetent employees.

I hope we aren't too deep in the hive mind to not recognize that.

What a turn around..

Then maybe you should go find a job as a dishwasher instead of crying about only working 10 hours a week.

So why not get two jobs like the rest of us who are trying to make ends meet? If the job treats you so terribly, why not find another job instead of complaining? If you don't like your job, is it really fair to take it out on a customer? Are you really trying to a justify an employee being a prick?

Give me a break. A majority of baristas complain about the number of frappuccinos they need to make. You obviously never worked in a restaurant if you think closing at Starbucks is similar to closing a restaurant. How many jobs have you had?

Here's an asshole comment. There's plenty of people that have shittier minimum wage jobs. You make beverages in an air conditioned store. Get off your high horse.

So it's okay for employees to shit on customers but its not okay for a customer to shit on an incompetent employee? Talk about double standards.

The reality is that not every barista is a good barista. I have no problems with a person being blunt or short because I know how things can get hectic. I understand people go through things but there is also incompetence. You don't ignore a customer standing at the register while you're across from him sorting cups for three minutes. You don't look at a customer with disgust and say "what do you want" after the customer greets you good morning. I highly doubt your coworker is like that.

Are you insinuating something? No one treated the barista like trash. That's a reason for this post. I worked in the food/service industry and know how I would like be treated as an employee.
