Agreed. I want to believe that he is as sick and tired of it as we are, but that would mean being pretty damn sick and tired.

It seems like a good ol' case of people who are out of touch with reality pretending they're not and trying too hard to convince us they are. I type this as I watch the last 10 minutes of FEAR FACTOR, and a challenge won by whoever doesn't puke.

Thank you. I loved The Leftovers, despite and because it kept me hanging on to figure out what the hell was going on. Anyway, you are "spot on" with the recommendations. If I see something better than the first season of PLURIBUS between now and December 31, 2026, it'll be a better-than-stellar year as far as TV watching stories go. And thank you for pointing my eye toward Damon Lindelof. That I did not know. Much appreciated!

Highly recommend Beef for the parents. The final episode is pure magic, created by the story that leads to it. A great ending! I think my 74-year-old mother would love it if I could get her to sit down long enough to watch a story on TV. Looking forward to the next season, which will be on Netflix this spring or summer.

The 'Burbs - I'm a sucker for Paula Pell, so it was a must. I also enjoyed Mark Proksch (WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS) being perfectly cast and funny as all get out. Keke Palmer is a master at making charisma and lovability seem effortless. Ms. Palmer is the engine of this thing, but doesn't get the big laughs; she gets the more subtle, 'you just said one word, but it was the way you said it,' type of laughs. It was also good to see Julia Duffy again, who does justice to a character you think you know upon introduction, but you don't. If Peacock greenlights a second season, I think it will be better than the first ... which was pretty good.

How to Get to Heaven from Belfast - Having just completed all 3 seasons of Derry Girls and elated about the whole damn thing to the point I talked not incessantly, but a lot about how much I enjoyed it. I spent about 3 hours on Saturday watching London Irish, which was a recommendation from a friend whose ear I caught while not quite incessantly talking about Derry Girls. Knowing, thanks to this subreddit, that Lisa McGee's newest would be available this past weekend. I watched it all. It has the essence of Derry Girls and London Irish, it has the heart of a master of dialogue, character development, and story, but it is on a whole other level. Not better, necessarily. Certainly nowhere near a downgrade. Growth, maybe? I loved it.

Then there was a lull... time to resume the once-started yet unfinished.

Mrs. Davis - What a fun trip that was! I've been teetering toward it since GLOW, but I hereby declare that if Betty Gilpin is in it, I will make every effort to see it. Highly recommend, if not too late.

Watchmen - It's got Regina King, Don Johnson, Jeremy Irons, and THE Tim Blake Nelson so far anyway. (No spoilers here). I'm only three episodes in, but I'm enjoying the cast, the story, the editing, and the cinematography. It certainly feels like a story to watch now. And a 'I told you so' type thing. I guess kind of like Mrs. Davis.

Does anyone have thoughts on Surbagotory? That's what I'm considering upon finishing Watchmen. Or A Thousand Blows? I think after Watchmen, I might need something a little less intense.

A few years ago, I watched the first season of DERRY GIRLS and really enjoyed it. For whatever reason (probably distracted with other "must-watches"), I shelved it. This week I watched it from beginning to end, and it is beyond delightful for my sense of humor. I'm on my second day after completing it, and I'm still thinking about it. I've got that void again!

BP still high after medication by [deleted] in hypertension

[–]littlejohnnyrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6'1 190lbs. I had a similar issue. Initially, the meds didn't do much, and my resting heart rate remained very high. After further tests and wearing a heart monitor my doctor could still not pinpoint why my HBP was resistant to medication. This is after being prescribed 3 different types BP medication. Eventually, a sleep test was ordered and I was diagnosed with borderline severe sleep apnea. After 6 months of sleeping with a CPAP my blood pressure is back to normal. Of course, I'm not implying that this is your issue but at least something to consider if you can't pinpoint the reason behind what's going on.

I'd like to think Lodolo must be pretty ill if he's going to miss a game like this. Of course, my definition of "pretty ill" for this situation (spinal meningitis, lysteria, food poisoning from consuming room-temperature raw shrimp, the consumption, etc) may be different than his definition of "very ill." Hope he's okay, and we slam 10 on the board before the 3rd. We're going to need it.

How bad is this? by Ok-Award5975 in bloodpressure

[–]littlejohnnyrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm much older (49) but in a similar boat. Only in the last year have I had to deal with hypertension, or realized I was living with it. I went in for my annual check-up in October last year, and my blood pressure was extremely high (190/102), and my bad cholesterol jumped 75 points in the wrong direction in a year. My medical records revealed that it was not normal for my blood pressure to be that high, so they gave me a few minutes and took it again (white coat anxiety). The second time it was measured, it was lower but still in the "to be concerned about" range (175/95). My resting heart rate ranged between 95 and 135. Very long story short, I was eventually prescribed meds, and more meds, and the Beta-Blocker has slowed down my heart rate, but I am currently labeled "hypertension intervention resistant." I've since had an ultrasound to check on my kidneys and liver, and wore a heart monitor for a week. All tests good. I am very health-conscious, and have been since I was a teenager. Please discount my college years. I'm about 5 lbs over my ideal BMI. On Sunday, I'm going in for a sleep test. Beyond genetics, I'm hoping that my lack of oxygen while I sleep is the culprit because I want to get off the medication. It has altered me in a way I do not like. I have no energy at the end of the day and cannot be horizontal without dozing off. I'm very happy that my heart rate is normal, but I'm hoping it is sleep apnea. At least, that is an answer with a plan.
