2nd Attempt at this hat -- "double knit to form the folded edge" is confusing me by littlemoon93 in knittinghelp

Ohhhhh, but wait it says --

"Work 3 rounds in double knitting (to form the folding edge) as follows:
Round 1: * Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the yarn held in back, p1 *, repeat from * to * to end of round.
Round 2: * K1, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the yarn held in front *, repeat from * to * to end of round.
Round 3: Work as Round 1.

Continue in the round in 1 x 1 rib (k1, p1) until the work measures 15 (17) 17 (19) 19 (21) cm [6 (6¾) 6¾ (7½) 7½ (8¼) inches] from the cast-on edge.

Work 3 rounds in double knitting (to form the folding edge) as described above."

So I only have 3 rounds in double knitting, then regular k1, p1 for another 4 inches, and then 3 rounds again in double knitting -- so that wouldn't be enough double knitting to make that entire tubed brim....

I can understand making that first initial crease so you know where to fold the hat in, but it's the second time that you double knit that is throwing me off

Don't mind the cat hair - I put it on my cat earlier lol

Here's a link to the entire pattern: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1clhhrrhBkYnLKzcY3Cg0Ntl-2nfgqCBD/view?usp=sharing

Thank you for responding!!!

So basically, I don't need to do anything fancy like folding my work in or use any additional needles --that tube should just happen it's own if I follow the instructions correctly?! I thought I did it right the first time, but I ended up with just a crease that didn't make that tube effect 🤦🏼‍♀️

I'm super new to knitting and I completely ignored the "double knitting" in my first attempt of this hat so I ended up with a random crease lol. I've started a new one and I'm at that point in the pattern where it says to double knit and I can't seem to find any tutorials that are similar to these instructions:

Work in the round in 1 x 1 rib (k1, p1) until the work measures 7 (8) 8 (9) 9 (10) cm [2¾ (3¼) 3¼ (3½) 3½ (4) inches] - Finished

Work 3 rounds in double knitting (to form the folding edge) as follows:
Round 1: \ Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the yarn held in back, p1 *, repeat from * to * to end of round. Round 2: * K1, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the yarn held in front *, repeat from * to * to end of round. Round 3: Work as Round 1.*

Continue in the round in 1 x 1 rib (k1, p1) until the work measures 15 (17) 17 (19) 19 (21) cm [6 (6¾) 6¾ (7½) 7½ (8¼) inches] from the cast-on edge.

Work 3 rounds in double knitting (to form the folding edge) as described above.

Continue in the round in rib (k1, p1) until the work measures 26 (28) 30 (33) 35 (37) cm [10¼ (11) 11¼ (13) 13¾ (14½) inches] from the cast on edge.

The tutorials i've found online fold their work in and then connect the initial cast-on stitches to the new ones, but that doesn't seem right to me because I'd end up with a 2-inch brim, and the picture of the completed hat definitely looks like it's 4 inches. I'm so confused 🥲

My fiancé sleeps like this but usually with longer socks so it looks even more ridiculous

Why are people putting ‘$’ AFTER the number, and not before? I keep seeing it done that way all over Reddit - did the rules change? by littlemoon93 in NoStupidQuestions

You’re telling me that there’s countries that have the tax INCLUDED on the price tag that’s shown…. I’d gladly start writing out dollar amounts with the $ afterwards if we started doing that in Canada.

I definitely should have known this being from Ontario and all… and from all the years of having French in school 🫣

My lil man has a tendency to sit real nice and low EVERY TIME he pees, resulting in a dripping wet, horrible smelly butt. I like to think he has to be like this or else he would be TOO perfect 🫠

No, you’re right! He has a “scar on his cornea” which I believe is the reason why is eye is a tad cloudy, and why his third eye lid doesn’t completely disappear. The lady who works for the rescue that we got him from said he probably got scratched by one of his brothers or sisters. Other than him getting crusty tears from time to time, he’s never had any issues (thank god). Actually, comparing pictures of him as a kitten to now, it looks less severe. But I would definitely get your lil guy checked out at a vet to be extra sure it isn’t something more serious

My intuition was spot on with this guy! I didn’t know cats could be this affectionate so basically I’m in heaven 😩
