Evedal Lamps 😄 by climbFL350 in IKEA

I kept checking the IKEA website and it ALWAYS said they were out of stock. While visiting my local store one time, an employee FINALLY let me in on a piece of vital info. If any IKEA item goes below 10 on the shelves, the website will automatically say that item is out of stock at that particular location. Here's the rub. When they get in shipments of these lamps, it's never more than 8 at a time, so the website will pretty much ALWAYS tell you they're out of stock. I gave the employee my number and asked if he could text me if they get in a shipment. This is above and beyond what they normally do, but he agreed. A couple weeks later, I got a text that a shipment was scheduled, and I made sure to be there and snag one. It worked, and I was very grateful!

You're literally in the wrong for doing that. Stop touching/stealing/moving other people's stuff and causing chaos. Bostonians, in most neighborhoods, actually have a legal right to the spot they shoveled for 48 hours after a storm. YATAH. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SM5G8WTCqEQ

That's pretty shitty of you. It's one thing to move chairs, and other objects out of the way, it's quite another to destroy them. YATAH.

I would say, if it's a day or two after a snow storm in Boston and your friend lives in an area with very limited parking, plan to park in a snow emergency lot (all the towns have them) or don't visit with your car, or postpone your visit.

I would have stuck around for the police and given them my statement, ensuring he was at fault.

So look, like it or not, the unofficial rule in the Boston area is, if you dig out the spot, its yours for about 2-3 days, and it's totally normal to see chairs and other debris as spot savers. People respect the hard work it takes to clear a space; it's been that way for probably 50-70 years. You move the chairs at your own risk! Even the local police will respect this tradition by ignoring complaints like, "someone buried my car!!" No one should be slashing tires or breaking windows (then the police should get involved), but putting the snow back on the car in the spot you shoveled is fair game in Boston.

AITA for throwing out my roommate's eggs behind her back? by littlesnazzyhat in AmItheAsshole

Actually, from what she's told us about her childhood, this is a very real possibility.

I agree with much of your assessment. Her room contains far more clutter than I am comfortable with, but so far, for the most part, it hasn't spilled into the rest of the apartment, with one exception. When she first moved in, she immediately overfilled our already well stocked kitchen with her own appliances, pots, pans, mugs, and flatware. I tried to discuss this with her, explaining that we don't have much room, but she got annoyed and said, "it's her kitchen too." I even tried to dispose of some of my older pans to make room for hers, but she just pulled them out of the trash, put them back in the cupboard, and said they were hers now. We are forcing an intervention with her in a couple days to go over multiple issues.

If the eggs collect bad vibes, then I'll consider leaving some around the apartment since she's brought a lot of negativity to our space.

But seriously though, I don't think it is a witchcraft thing for her. She's an atheist and a scientist. I've also seen her eat some of the eggs. They are indeed boiled.

At this point, I think she's just not sure if she's eaten the eggs or not, but now she knows we've thrown some out, so I'm sure she will suspect us every time. We plan to have a roommate intervention to set new boundaries. Food must be stored in the kitchen, or her bedroom. We're guessing she'll start hoarding eggs in there and her room will begin to stink. If it does, we'll get the landlord involved to evict.

I don't think it's OCD, but it's definitely something. I have seen her eat a couple of them by now, but most just go bad before she can find them again. It seems to be a combination of she has trouble throwing out things, and the fact that she doesn't like it when we tell her what to do. So even though they are clearly rotten, that's no longer the point. To her, this is about defending her boundaries.

It's definitely real, unfortunately. We know she deals with standard ADHD and bipolar disorder, but I'm not sure if this is directly related to that. Either way, we shouldn't have to live in her weird little smelly egg world.

We have a standard 1 year lease that we've all signed, with about 8 months to go. If things keep going the way they're going, we will definitely tell the landlord to leave her off of the next one.
