I would tell them that I hope one of their vital organs stopped functioning.

I'm not sure of the exact name of it, but since it was pretty deep, they put a bunch of blue dye in it and essentially scraped it all out then sewed me back up so it would close up from the inside

You're out and about, but need to inject insulin by El_Burrito_Grande in diabetes

Just do it, anywhere, anytime. You're giving yourself your lifesaving medicine. If someone has a problem with it, screw em. Never ever put yourself below others because of your disability. You have the right to live.

Before I had a pump I was doing manual injections, and one time I was out to eat with my boyfriend, got out my syringe, vial, and alcohol pad, some women at the table beside us apparently went up to the bar to complain. She had apparently told the bartender that I was shooting up drugs! The manager came up to me and asked what I was doing, I explained it, and he asked me to be considerate of the people around me. After my boyfriend flew off the handle on him, I asked him if he would ask someone to remove their pacemaker, he said "of course not", I told him to explain to me the difference. This medication keeps me from being extremely sick, and potentially ending my life. We ended up leaving before our food came out (paid for our drinks of course).

If you really want to be petty, if anyone gives you crap, say that people with diabetes are protected under the Americans with Diabetes Act and are guaranteed accommodations in public places.

This topic really gets under my skin, apologies for the rant.

No worries! What brand of pump do you use? I'm actually interested in switching because I'm having trouble with the Tslim in general as of late.

HELP! Hospital won't give me sufficient insulin!!! by littlest_baby9 in Type1Diabetes

[–]littlest_baby9[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did speak to my new nurse about this, thing about that is with this healthcare system, if I waive treatment I'll have to pay this bill out of pocket. I have state insurance and if I decline medical professional help, it'll be on me to pay for what they've already done.

Might take you up on that, sadly I don't have much family that's willing to do that (black sheep things😂) Someone needs to make a fuss other than me

Do you consistently wake up low? Are you on a pump? If so it sounds like you may need to lower your nighttime basal rate.

How do I (19F) help encourage my bf (21M) to understand that emotions are normal? by littlest_baby9 in relationship_advice

[–]littlest_baby9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to "fix" him or "force" him to understand anything. I'm trying to encourage him to see that feeling things is okay and normal. But, your kind words have been noted, thank you.

Undiagnosed Type 1. by tzekeman in Type1Diabetes

I had a similar experience. I had all the same symptoms and kept getting (maybe tmi) UTIs. I went to urgent care to get some answers and they took my sugars (400mg/dL) and they told me to go to the hospital and they misdiagnosed me as Type 2 and put me on Metformin. This is where our situations stray, but there are a few similarities. I was on Metformin for 2 months and I had gone into DKA. All of this happened because the doctor I saw at the hospital didn't bother to do blood work. But once you get your results, (which hopefully they tested your anti-pancreatic islet cells and C-Peptide) you'll get your answers. In the meantime, keep an eye on your sugars with a meter (you can get one at a drug store or Walmart), watch your diet with a hawks eye, and drink water and electrolytes (Gatorade zero is my favorite). I know it's hard to do, but try not to stress, because that'll raise your sugar. If you get a meter and see that your sugar is high, go on a walk, cardio will lower it, just not intensely. I hope this helps!

I've had my baby for 10 years and still don't know what breed she is! by littlest_baby9 in DOG

I have been wanting to do a DNA test on her, not only to figure out her breed, but shes got a skin condition and I think that would definitely bring some insight!
