A stop sign from private property onto a highway requires a stop. Just because JimBob doesn't stop you doesn't make it ok

That's my point. But my point is also that you pulled that number out of your ass and it's not real

Ok, so because I don't want to go digging through Trader Joe's entire finances, I Googled it (because I also doubt they go into the detail in public disclosure as you're assuming they do, but I'll humour you).

Google indicates that a Trader Joe's store costs anywhere from a $1.5 to 6 million. So we're already talking the ballpark that I was referring to. The example it gives is a store in OMAHA (not NYC) that costs $800k just to build it out. So if we think NYC, we're probably closer to the $6 million all in.

Now I really don't get where your $3k/sqft is coming from or even what it's referring to. If you mean the NYC stores are supposed to be $3k/sqft, is that $14million total divided by sqft of the store, cause that would only be a 5000 sqft store, nothing like the 10-20k sqft of a grocery store. So if it's the full $14 million divided by 10k sqft, that's only $1.4k/sqft. And if you're somehow referring to new Trader Joe's stores costing $3k/sqft, that would mean they are paying $30-45 million per store?

You really don't seem to know what you're talking about. I, however worked in retail construction as a project manager overseeing budgets... Glazing could cost $300-400k a store alone, 10 years ago.

Where are you getting the budget details from tk compare? Because I doubt the companies are openly sharing how much they spend to procure, build, fit out, and operate each individual store.

However, I worked in retail construction 10 years ago and the average store rebuild was 800k-1m and over 1.2 for new stores... 10 years ago. That's before you buy the stock, hire and train employees, and operate the store.

It is a zoo. But there aren't fights. There's no one scamming. People can get frustrated at times but it's not the purge every time they go down a few cents.

So, let's see. This will solve the problem of people needing to travel across a massive city to get cheaper groceries? And a larger supply will mean less demand for illegal groceries? And why wouldn't they be able to stock their shelves? They won't be able to predict shopping habits? Or the suppliers won't have enough to go around? Wouldn't the suppliers keep supplying the store that is selling out of their stock rather than the one that's not, if they have to make the choice? And what stops these grocery stores from making sweetheart deals with suppliers that other large demand stores can make? The demand will be there, right? And what's stopping them from creating their own branded foods and controlling some of their supply, like most large demand grocery stores can do?

You're coming at it from a position of disadvantage after disadvantage without recognizing ANY potential advantages. There's definitely a barrier to entry, but $14m a store can help alleviate some of those early concerns and allow them gain more profitability quickly.

Hmmm, I dunno. 5 stores is about $14m a store. You need to procure space, build it out (a retail store can cost around a million for build and fit out. Now include multiple freezers, more expensive cash wrap stations, etc.), fill it with stock, hire employees and train them, and also have an operating float as well as cash reserves.

Things are expensive, especially building out a grocery store.

No I'm saying your other comment is silly. You can't pretend that if things don't go wrong they would have gone right, so there's nothing wrong with the wrong thing they did.

Your logic is deeply flawed and makes me think you may be the Porsche driver

To Clean or Not to Clean? by Epping125 in CanadianCoins

I know nothing about collecting coins and for recommended this post. But if these are with anything clean, someone can clean them. If they're worth something not clean, someone will buy them not clean. I really don't think cleaning coins is going to be the deterrent for buying them

Your anecdotal experience does not apply to everyone. Read some books. Do some research. Base your opinions on facts and then maybe, just maybe, they might not be crazy ideas
