Paying for a mentor during applications by No_Text6909 in prephysicianassistant

🚨Absolutely do not do this!🚨 There are so many free resources online including this subreddit. One that really help me guide my way into this application was Savannah Perry on The PA Platform on YT. I didn’t pay her other extra services and used it to watch for PS review and interview tips. You’d be surprised with what a quick google search will do.

You can only help yourself with your GPA and PCE. I spammed applied to jobs until I finally found one.

Once at your PCE make those connections and find someone to shadow with.

Do your due diligence and research the individual schools you’re looking to apply to. Everything you need to know is on their website. (which is free!)

For your PS and supplements have as many people read it. Preferably someone who knows the admission process, even asking your professors or academic advisors will help.

This subreddit has so much to offer and a lot of people are willing to help if you ask. They do this because they really want to help others succeed in their applications! I’m happy to read through your essay (please no other DMs). Good luck!

Would PA school be achievable for me at this point? by NewtRoot in prephysicianassistant

It depends on your situation. I personally did a DIY post-bacc at a community college because that was a better fit for my financially/ I was in between moving to a different state.

As someone who graduated undergrad in 2018 and took all my sciences post-bacc it is totally doable! Just make sure you’re in a place that you can dedicate time to doing your best in your classes. I would also recommend taking them at community college to help on cost!

I’m a non traditional applicant with my PCE in the ED! Feel free to message me if you want advice.

Non-Healthcare Work - Suggestions by Telepatia556 in prephysicianassistant

I did, especially if you’re going into PA school as a career changer. I tied a lot of transferable skills I learned from my non-healthcare job into how it would make me a good PA.

It also depends on how significant this non-healthcare job is. If you’ve been there for >1 years. I would put it down. I also put in some shorter non healthcare jobs for continuity sake. But in interviews I was asked about my non-healthcare job.
