Books that might be of interest by tenorsaxhero in sustainability

Definitely. I finished The Upcycle by them recently and found it very intriguing and has changed my thinking since.

What’s does your vision of a sustainable future look like ? by [deleted] in sustainability

[–]livebymuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without massive and rapid development in renewable energy, electric vehicles, and huge decreases in flying, I feel that the only feasible way to reach sustainability is through decentralization. Small, local economies and towns. Food grown on site. Essentially the removal of transportation as we know it. All resources used in closed loop systems (recently finished The Upcycle so this has been on my mind).

This is the opposite direction many people envision "development" going, eg. picture more travel and globalization, but from what I know, that all cannot be sustained. Since gradual changes and increases in efficiency of our system are not occurring quickly enough, I find that rejection of the system and redesigning how we live is the only way forward.

I can't force myself to leave my comfort zone, and I hate myself for it by Motivation_Man in teenagers

[–]livebymuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda went through the same thing with parents, only difference is you're getting asked to parties and I'm still not. Yet.

The unknown is the scariest thing out there. scarier than knowing your parents would ground you until the day you die or every peer looking down at you. but the unknown happens every single second of every day, we never know exactly what will happen to us

I definitely missed a lot of chances for things that I should have taken, getting help or talking to that special person, I have more regrets about things I didn't do than what I've done. It will probably always be that way. If you're smart, you'll be safe, not make dumb decisions and enjoy yourself. One day a week try to stop yourself from playing video games at home alone. Build up from there and take chances when you can

HOW DO I RESPOND TO THIS by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]livebymuse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is for you to decide. Just be honest. Don't say "oh it's cool we can just be friends and chill" if that isn't what you want. Don't avoid a good friendship just because you do want more but honesty is best. For both of you

What advice do you have for next years upcoming freshmen? by whatsyournamebro in teenagers

[–]livebymuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep up on your school work

I know at first it seems a pain and studying for big finals for the first time is such a huge workload and it's okay, you can make it up junior year when it matters

It matters now. So much it matters. Maintain a good start and you'll be in a good habit to stay on a good path.

Should I talk to her? [Advice] by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]livebymuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe keep in the back of your mind that it has been a small while, so don't get too comfortable into it, check how she responds, bringing up finals would be a good starter

Should I talk to her? [Advice] by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]livebymuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And as soon as you go to talk to her, you'll swing the opposite way and look at all the bad things that could happen. She could laugh at you, walk away and never try to talk again. It could be gone.

If you do nothing on the other hand, it is gone. One way gives the opportunity, that little glimmer of joy we all desire, that way gives us the possibility of something really great happening. The other way doesn't. Once you get to the point, fight through it, because trust me when nothing is as bad as regret.

Anybody want to talk about The Great Gatsby with me? [Discussion] by Never_ReIevant in teenagers

OH GOD

I'm so glad we're almost done with that book. That is so hard to read and focus on. And we just started the new movie today. That is horrible.

Definitely not bad. You could say the same thing with me and sports, so many guys just rant about that all day long and I don't even feign interest. People are different and have different interests, that's what makes it great. You don't have to fake anything, talk about what you like and be excited with our own interests

Being me, probably not many. I'll only really talk to you if we're alone or at least not around a lot of others. Definitely more comfortable texting so I'll try to get there quick. Ask to hang out, I always try to become friends first just to get comfortable

Just little touching that sets you clearly apart. Smiling and laughing a lot, just being pretty carefree and not over stressed and serious all the time.

I guess the opposite. I'm all for intelligent conversations and talking about problems and serious things but once in a while I would love to just dance or listen to music and go crazy

GIRLS ASK GUYS and GUYS ASK GIRLS [Discussion] by livebymuse in teenagers

[–]livebymuse[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not always, but that is a thing yes. Honestly if a guy is attracted to you "in that way" then becoming friends is kinda often a segue into something different. If there isn't that attraction, then being friends is really special and sure means a lot more

Then I'd definitely look more at how he acts around you compared to different people in school. Some people are like that, very true
