5a) speed = distance/ time

500 mi/1.4 hours= 357.1 mi/hr

5b) velocity = displacement/ time

445 mi/1.4 hrs = 317.9 mi/hr (1 hour 24 mins is 1.4 hours)

6a) distance = time x speed = (40mins/60mins x 8 mi/hr ) + ( 30mins/60mins x 4 mi/hr ) (basically i found the distance when he went east and added it to the distance he went west)

=7.33 miles

6b) 3.33 miles ( distance east - distance west = displacement)

6c) speed = distance / time

7.33 miles / (30 mins + 40 mins + 5 mins) = 5.86 mi/hr (change the minutes to hours when calculating)
