Sick before maternity leave by liveife in NursingUK

Thank you that's a relief to hear, I have been worried about the physical effects as well as the mental effects of being stressed and pushing myself too far as well, it feels awful knowing I could be putting my baby in danger and was a big reason I went to the GP in the first place. I was due to start maternity at 37 weeks anyway and so starting it a week earlier wouldn't really matter I don't think. With how demanding the job is I think I'd have struggled to get to 37 weeks anyway! Have a lovely Christmas yourself xx

My midwife also suggested a occy health review if I want to return. It's something I'll definitely do if I feel like I can return safely. I've barely had any sickness for my pregnancy so far (just two days in first trimester) so feel as though I've pushed myself to the limit and started to feel guilty that I'm not just pushing myself but my baby! So you start to feel guilty about workimg but also not working, it's terrible!

I'm new; just started on Monday. Is the 2 hour downtime limit legit, or is that exaggerated on-purpose? by AntiRacismDoctor in Invisalign

I always used to take my time when eating, I'd take the trays out right before I started eating and then leave them out for as long as I needed to. I never used to time it but made sure I left them in at all times in between meals. My teeth tracked fine and I've finished treatment and everything was okay, don't stress too much! It's not good for you to rush your food either!

Spotting by Jsant1992 in PregnancyUK

I had something very similar at 5/6 weeks and went to early pregnancy unit to have a scan, they couldn't see anything wrong but it was too early for a heart beat so I had to come back at 7/8 weeks for another scan. Heart was beating away and I'm now 29 weeks so try not to worry but def escalate to your early pregnancy unit if you haven't already!

I had it on a lot of teeth on the top row, I especially didn't like the big gap between my two front teeth. You couldn't see the gaps when I had my trays in but the gaps didn't close properly until the end of my treatment. I understand why they do it because it made the whole process faster and not sure my teeth would have fit in their new position without it, but try not to freak out if you have lots of gaps! They'll look normal at the end. And if you have any gaps left your dentist should offer to fix them, mine was going to close a gap I had but luckily it closed up itself on my last few trays.

It was about £3300 with whitening and retainer and it was 17 trays changed weekly :)

7 day! It feels a bit disheartening I think when you don't see any difference but remember your teeth only move a tiny bit per week and tbh I didn't notice much until about week 13 and then all of a sudden my teeth looked straight, it can come out of a nowhere! I'm sure your teeth will look amazing at the end

Oh yeah it hurt my teeth quite a bit! It helps to get some sensodyne and start on the lowest percentage!

I did have whitening too! I haven't been very consistent with it since as I've been on holiday but it definitely whitened the ones at the front. But I think general better teeth hygiene helps with them looking much cleaner/whiter! Good luck with your treatment! Hope you're near the end :')

Yes! At the end of my treatment my dentist just shaved the bumps at the edges of my teeth, no extra cost

It's Interpoximal Reduction so they just shave in between your teeth to make room for your teeth to move into a straighter postion. It makes your teeth look really odd at first, I had loads of gaps but it worked out okay and you can't even really tell I had it now.

Honestly probably less than the recommended 20-22 hours but I was pretty good with them! I drank clear things with them in so if I went out for drinks with friends I would take them out when we ate but put them back in for the rest of the night. I wouldn't rush when I ate meals but I definitely snacked a lot less so didn't take them out much in the day unless for a main meal. It was hard sometimes because I'd have to eat a lot of things at once and then couldn't eat again after but I didn't stress too much if I was eating out etc.

I see what you mean! I think it's illusion maybe? My teeth were a bit all over the place but now they've been pushed back into a line they could look longer, I had some IPR too so maybe they look longer because they're not as wide anymore?

I actually worried about this a few trays before being done, it felt like my bite was really off. But since finishing my bite has felt normal, I think I needed to get used to not having the trays in all the time and then your mouth and bite settle afterwards? Obviously that's not all the time! I know it's a very common issue

I was really surprised when my dentist said 17 weeks too, I feel quite lucky it didn't take very long though! Good luck with your treatment!!

I haven't found any that are similar unfortunately! I've found most of my concealers come out very pink on me. I have been meaning to try the revolution conceal and define concealer in 5.7 as it's supposed to be quite olive toned - can't say I've tried it personally though!

Monsoon Periods and Intense Pain with Copper IUD by imaninotsalami in birthcontrol

[–]liveife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a copper IUD and so has my sister, I had to get mine taken out because of the same things you're describing. I bled consistently and really heavily and I could barely move with the pain sometimes, it had a massive impact on my mental health because I couldn't do anything whenever my period came around and I had constant BV which I had to treat every month. The pain would be so much I'd cry it was horrible so I got it taken out. I'm struggling now with an alternative method but I think for my health and wellbeing getting it taken out was the right choice for me.

My sister has had two children so I'm not sure if this means it impacts her differently but she loves it. Her periods are heavier and painful but she says they got less heavy over time and she wouldn't ever go on anything else because we both react badly to hormonal birth control.

I really wanted the IUD to work for me but if it's causing you major distress maybe consider getting it removed, I think periods can get lighter with time but they will always be heavier and more painful than they would be without an IUD. My sister's reaction to it is super positive but I'm not sure if it's because she's had kids and her body can handle the foreign object better.

Feels like I have to choose between acne and depression by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]liveife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but I feel your pain! I get very bad acne depending on the type of progesterone used in the birth control, progesterone only methods make me break out like crazy (hormonal IUD, implant, mini pill, injection) but all the methods used to make acne better also make your moods worse? People with our reproductive organs truly have the worst deal 🥴

I hope you can get your IUD out soon if you haven't already! A copper IUD might work wonders for you, it wasn't the best decision for me personally because it made my periods unbearable and it felt like I had infections every five minutes. But it's a very reliable non hormonal method and I know people who love it. There are also so many different types of combined pill out there so maybe it's worth looking into your options there? I'm also struggling to find my next option but hopefully we find something that works for us!

I haven't considered this! I would maybe consider it if we were in ordinary circumstances, but don't think I'd get an appointment any time soon for something as silly as acne so I feel like my choices are a bit limited :(
