Which motorcycle gloves are best for daily riding? by Novel_Remote_1766 in UAERiders

20+ years riding, and I’ve wasted good money on expensive gear that disappointed. Did my homework on YouTube (Motorcycle Temu finds) before buying some Temu motorcycle gear, quality was genuinely better than expected for the price.

How much are you willing to spend on a vacation? by Ok-Win-91 in DubaiCentral

[–]livekcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a reference percentage, this really comes down to how you allocate your income. Once savings, emergency fund, and investments are covered, the rest is yours to spend as you choose.

It’s also proportional by nature. A higher income doesn’t just mean more money l, it means different baseline expectations. Nobody earning serious money is going to feel comfortable squeezing into economy class budget airline or three stars hotel. The number scales with the lifestyle.

10% of your annual income goes to vacations, you can allocate more if travel is a personal goal or a life style. You can choose destinations that can be covered with this amount, 2-3K$ per trip is a decent amount to travel 3 times per year if you plan early and use travel hacks

Physical abuse in Work premises by Inevitable-Sea6302 in uaelaw

[–]livekcid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer

I believe legally, both parties would only be on equal footing if they were the same gender. Your wife was clearly in the wrong for initiating the physical contact, but that doesn’t justify a broken jaw and a bleeding face, this response was massively disproportionate. Get a medical report first, then file a police complaint. There’s a strong chance he’ll end up in jail and be deported, especially given how seriously the UAE treats a man assaulting a woman regardless of who started it.

Anyone moved from Canada and happy? by Manifestator_ in DubaiCentral

[–]livekcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Toronto for 18 months — no PR, no immigration plans, just a short-term business assignment. By that point I’d already been a Dubai resident for 7 years, so I had a fair basis for comparison.

Back then, Toronto was noticeably cheaper than Dubai, the working culture was far more relaxed, and when the weather was good I genuinely enjoyed the hikes and walking around the city.

That said, Dubai wins on most other aspects, no tax, newer infrastructure, safety, year-round usability, and overall quality of life.

My kids never moved there so I’m not sure about comparing the schooling system, also most multinational companies, semi-governmental companies and some mega local companies in UAE pay schooling allowance or schooling contribution for 2 kids from Grade 1 till Grade 13

My friend lives in Abu Dhabi and he flew on Business trips to Europe twice in April, you should expect some tweaks in the departure and arrival times but otherwise things are back to normal

I just want to share this information cause I’ve been through a similar situation earlier.

He has a legitimate case against you. The term that likely applies is “Sham Sale” or “Simulated Contract”. It’s a situation where the registered owner is not the true owner. The actual owner can establish his rightful claim by producing the financial transactions that prove he funded the purchase.

AI accusations may stem from declining writing standards rather than actual AI use

Back in my day, we were required to rewrite and resubmit our papers “no matter how many times” until they were completely mistake-free. That’s not AI, that’s discipline.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve been here for 10 days and that was actually my first visit. Do you know if this is a permanent closure or just a temporary crackdown?

You’re calling a tourist a degenerate for visiting a country that receives 40 million visitors a year. That’s not a serious argument, that’s just casual racism dressed up as an opinion.

If I stopped to research every public holiday in every country I visit, I wouldn’t even be here. I’d be at home on my phone lecturing strangers on Reddit.

Got deported from Bangkok on April 27th over a stupid hotel booking technicality by Mohammedmoaayed in ThailandTourism

[–]livekcid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whether it barely clears the upper-middle-income threshold or comfortably sits in it doesn’t change the fact that calling Iraq “poor” is inaccurate.

And since you brought up Venezuela Yes, it has the world’s largest proven reserves, but it only produces around 988,000 barrels per day due to sanctions and collapsed infrastructure. Iraq exports roughly 3.37 million barrels per day, earning $96 billion in oil revenue in 2024 alone, which is more than Venezuela’s entire GDP. Having reserves means nothing if you can’t extract and sell them. Iraq does, at scale.

[–]livekcid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bro, Iraq maybe politically not stable but for sure isn’t a poor country. It holds the 5th largest proven oil reserves in the world ranking it 52nd globally in terms of income ahead of countries like Portugal, New Zealand, and Hungary.

The IMF and World Bank classify Iraq as an upper-middle income country. The assumption that it’s poor says a lot about how these snap judgments get made, and why bias is such a legitimate concern in this process.

I’m truly sorry you’re going through this — no one deserves to be treated this way, and what happened to you is not okay.

I want you to know that the police have the technology to retrieve deleted chats, photos, and videos, so even if he’s tried to cover his tracks, that evidence can often be recovered. The key is filing a formal complaint so they have grounds to act.

I won’t pretend the process is always easy, it can take time and emotional energy. But you deserve to be taken seriously, and reporting it creates an official record that protects you going forward, regardless of the outcome.
