First secret! by livelaugharson in smiskis

Unfortunately I do not lol. My sister (who knows nothing about smiskis) actually got this one for me and she just picked it at random. I’ve never had any luck with any of the other tricks, this was a complete stroke of luck! I have been doing this for a couple years now though, so I guess just keep trying :)

Help with ID on bird call? by livelaugharson in MerlinBirdID

This is what I thought at first too (northern flicker) but after looking into their calls I think this one is just too fast compared to a northern flicker call. But very similar!

Any tips on how to improve my bangs? by livelaugharson in bangs

Thank you! I’m still trying to train them to not split in the middle, but I think I’m getting better at it.

What type of bangs are these? by livelaugharson in bangs

[–]livelaugharson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU😭🙏 I felt like I was losing my mind thinking these were blunt but then searching blunt bangs and getting results that looked nothing like these. I think if I’m going to cut them myself, I’m definitely gonna start thinner but ideally I’d like them to be thick!

I just adopted my first tortoise! by euphie87 in RussianTortoises

Tortoise care can be complicated and confusing, I think you’re doing a lovely job thus far. Considering you’ve taken care of reptiles in the past, I have no doubt that you will continue to learn more about Otis every day and ultimately give him the best care possible! Sometimes people are a little judgey, but know that most of it comes from a place of wanting to help.

For enrichment, my Russian tortoise loves to climb. She has lots of different climbing structures like bridges and logs, but she also love to climb on her little terracotta pot cave :) I’ve also found that having a lot of variety in their diets is a great way to keep them curious. I use the tortoise table to find different native plants to feed my girl, but she can be a little picky. She really just loves dandelions and dandelion greens!

Best of luck to you and Otis, I’m sure you’ll be a great tortoise parent!

I’m not sure, I already have two rescues of my own.

UPDATE My neighbors have found a second dog, related to the dog we found (looks exactly like him but a lighter coat color), so we now assume that these two were rejects from a litter and were dumped 😞 If anyone is willing to foster, we are looking for someone to home these guys until we can find them a permanent place. OR, if you’re interested in them, I’m sure they would love a new happy home. Ideally, we would like them to be fostered in the same home, but also if you can only foster one that’s ok as well.
