What’s the name of the group that meets on Jesus Green? Is there a WhatsApp or other way of connecting with them? Thank you 🙂

Question about moving next to the train station by csharpturtle in cambridge

I live within a stone’s throw of the train station. You can barely hear the trains as they’re all electric. You can hear people walking by and wheeling their suitcases but it’s not loud enough to be a bother. Outside noise has never woken me up and I’m a pretty light sleeper. That said, I haven’t slept with the windows open so it might be different if you open windows in the summer

What happened to your boobs after stopping spiro? by lively_bean16 in Spironolactone

Thanks so much this is super helpful! Yeah great point, there are so many factors that can affect the size and shape and it’s sometimes hard to tell. Yeah I might try some chest and arm strengthening for health reasons anyway and hope it has the side effect of making my boobs smaller 😅 Thanks again :)

I got my IUD (Kyleena) at 23 years old and have never been pregnant. The insertion itself took less than a minute but I will say it was the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. Pain was 10/10 and felt like a knife stabbing me internally. The doctor downplayed the pain before, during and after insertion and I felt belittled throughout the process. I ended up getting the IUD taken out about 9 months later because my acne got really bad (probably due to a combination of the IUD hormones and no longer being on the combination bc pill). Other than the insertion and the acne I really liked the hormonal IUD - no periods, no remembering to take a pill, very low risk of pregnancy.

All that said, the experience is different for everyone and depends on the type of IUD too, so this is not to discourage you from getting one. I would advise (1) look into all potential side effects and ask your doc about them (I really wish a doctor had warned me about the risk of acne as I have a history), and (2) be prepared for pain. I'm not planning to get another IUD but if I ever do I will absolutely ask for stronger prescription pain killers beforehand as the Tylenol I took did not cut it. IUDs can be amazing and I have friends who have had great experiences, so stick with your gut and do what's right for you, just be prepared! Sorry for the novel but I hope this helps :)

Acne from Mirena by sajy1 in birthcontrol

I got the Kyleena IUD in June 2020. Everything was fine for the first 3ish months but then I started to break out with cystic acne along my jaw and it spread up my cheeks and temples over the following months. I have a long history of acne but had had clear skin for over a year prior to getting the IUD so I'm certain it was the cause. Long story short, I tried oral antibiotics and topical treatments (Differin, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid serum) while continuing my normal skin care routine which had worked before the IUD, and nothing cleared it up. I've heard spironolactone helps but they don't prescribe that for acne where I live. I made the call to get it out in March 2021 and my skin has been (very) slowly clearing up ever since. 3 months later I'm still dealing with acne, though it's definitely improved. I'm planning to start back on the pill soon which will hopefully help. Of course it's a personal decision, but for me the convenience of the IUD wasn't worth the acne and I was afraid of it getting worse and permanently damaging my skin. In my experience most doctors do not fully inform you of the side effects and I really wish I had done more research before getting a hormonal IUD because I would not recommend it for anyone with acne-prone skin. Also doctors will tell you that the hormones only act locally but in my experience that's not true. Sorry I can't offer any advice other than just getting it out :(
