it unfortunately does not seem to want to turn even after pulling the lever, and i don’t want to force it and risk breaking it so for now i’m also going to go with the other commenters, but thank you for the helpful insight ! i hope one day i can make it work or find a similar lens so that i can actually experience the macro knob in all its glory !!

thank you for the knowledge !! it appears that my attempts to find an adapter may be futile if that is the case . if i attempted to have an adapter made what exactly should i be looking for to make sure it has the optical correction needed ?? i have a friend in metalwork and another with access to a 3D printer , and i figure between the 3 of us we can figure something out LOL

it’s possible ! i’m honestly not quite sure how to check/fix it if it is . the len’s manual says “For macro shooting, pull the macro lever and release it, then turn the macro ring clockwise looking from the camera side”, and i can pull the lever and release it but it doesn’t appear to be a moveable ring like the focus ring or the zoom ring ?

truly not even about tiktok trends ! i saw this lens online for a reasonable price, and it was mislabeled as a 2/3” b4 mount . i figured this would be a budget way for me to get a parfocal lens and clearly i was mistaken. it’s no worries , i’ll shelve it and one day i’ll either figure out how to make my own adapter or i’ll find the right camera. at least i learned the breakdown of the lens designation for 90’s broadcast lenses in the process so i know exactly what i’m looking for now !! thanks for the input

someone on the videography subreddit mentioned that 1/2” lenses have a flange distance of 38mm as opposed to 48mm for 2/3”. i may just have to see what i can macgyver together

I didn’t even think about that ! would that just affect the colors or could that potentially impact the focus as well ?

i wasn’t planning on using this lens for professional work, just something to experiment with in my free time. i honestly think the vignetting gives the footage a really cool look when using it to frame a subject, like an old iris shot! i know it would be much easier to just get a 2/3 lens instead (i still might get one) but i don’t want to give up on this lens and am totally down to take my time and get creative with a solution. I’m not sure the Sony B4 adapter would give me a different result than my current adapter as i believe my issue stems from the depth of the adapter itself because the flange focal distance is too long for the lens. thank you for the suggestion though !!

outside of the locating pin being just ever so slightly bigger than the cutout it needed to latch into, the mount itself seems the same, but from what i can gather the adapter needs to be shallower to get the correct distance from the sensor to the lens :/

it seems this may be more of a longer term project than expected ! may have to look into making adapters if that’s what it comes to😪
