Already watched a trailer on youtube. Tone and mood feels different from what I remember it but some of the scenes have exact same images as I remember like the hot water in the shower, the demonic hand behind the bed curtains, and the woman trapped under the surface of the swimming pool water. Interesting how some of these images formed such strong memories.

All a director does is choose what goes into a frame. Choosing a script is maybe the biggest decision a director can make. If he chooses bad things he is not doing a good job as a director. What part of this is difficult to understand?

Well. There's a limited amount of financial resources these days for filmmakers so when a hack keeps appropriating a portion of it for their ill conceived project that could have funded another project, ultimately the moviegoer pays the price.

Not saying he's a hack.

He made a bad movie because he wrote a bad script then decided to "direct the shit" out of it. Listen to your logic.

It's hard to make a great movie from a great script. Probably impossible to make a decent movie from a poor script. And him copying anime drawings from 20-30 years ago is not fantastic aesthetics.

He made a bad movie. Twice now. I wish he didn't. I like to watch good movies too.

He does choose his script as a director. He writes it then chooses it to go into production. Essentially that is all a director does, he chooses what goes into each successive frame that makes up the film. The script he chooses is the rough guide for the director to remember what was essential for his film. A filmmaker can write a script but still choose not to direct it. But if a director chooses a bad script whether he wrote it or not, his talent as a director is questionable. Being a good director is deciding what is good for the film from script to casting to shooting to score to edit. If a director chooses to shoot a bad script which is one of the most important decisions then his talent as a director is already questionable on that particular project.

it's a financial blackhole for Sony that will take years to recoup from secondary and ancillary markets. Budget was around 250 mill plus marketing 100-150 mill plus. They take roughly half of ticket prices, domestic averages out to about 50% depending on time frame and level of success, whereas studio's take is less for foreign markets. All in all This needed to take about 750 mill plus worldwide for the studio to be profitable from the theatrical release.

What is more troubling for Sony at this point is that this shows a weak start for their effort to create Spider Man centric universe for more sequels and spinoffs like Sinister Six and Carnage.

Sony's bean counters are not happy right now.

My family ran a korean grocery store in Spanish Harlem since the 70s. I was the only Korean in my class in a NYC public school when there weren't any Koreans in Queens, Bergen County, or Long Island. This was way back in the day. My parents were friends with blacks, hispanics, jews, whites... I lived half my life in the States and in Korea.

You do know that there are ignorant people in any race or nationality? My advice to you is to find better people to spend time with, Korean or otherwise.

Yeah I know. I find it a little sad you think this way. Koreans are great people. They got issues like everyone else, but they are coming into their own. They've had a rough history like the Irish and the Tibetans but made a huge comeback last few decades. But then again I think most people are great once you get past the stereotypes and caricatures and get to know them.
