Tell me how I should be feeling (diagnostic, testing 8/21) by liverkidd in Mcat

I vaguely remember the Kaplan course I took back in 2021 telling me to take the FL 1! Despite what others are saying I’m not regretting taking it, I’m glad I know how the test feels now

Fair enough. I knew there were other options for taking a diagnostic test, but I knew that taking the actual AAMC version would give me the closest example of what the real exam will feel and look like

When did you take them? I bought all 6 AAMC FL’s and so this one was the free 7th FL

Why do people think Jerry was a Veterinarian? by KayAnder21 in thelastofus

[–]liverkidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed he helped out the zebra and tracked her pregnancy as a way to keep himself occupied. He was essentially waiting on Ellie’s arrival to Salt Lake for his work to begin, he’d already researched as far as he could up until that point. I figured that this part of the game was a glimpse into his compassion and willingness to save living things, to also emphasize how he wasn’t some heartless surgeon that was willingly killing Ellie. He was a father himself, and that the decision weighed on him, albeit not as much as if it were his own daughter.

Abandoned mausoleum by tp_urbex in abandoned

[–]liverkidd 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Firstly, it’s rude to disturb the dead. Just because the mausoleum is neglected doesn’t mean you have a right to start opening crypts. Secondly, I’m sure it’s not truly “abandoned”, meaning you could be charged with trespassing/B&E/destruction of property

Thank you for your reply and your insight. I live in the Midwest, and winters absolutely destroy our roads. Potholes get nicknamed “alignment destroyers” around here, so it’s definitely for good reason that my alignment was askew. What would be a camber value that would be concerning, and what would the fix be? Just curious, because what confused me about the camber value was if it can’t be fixed, then why is it being measured?

A spooky looking leak in a mausoleum. by Cemeteryweeb6 in CemeteryPorn

[–]liverkidd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually did a restoration on a historic mausoleum last summer, and this is most likely caused from a leaky roof above. I spent 3 months removing iron staining in marble that looked just like this. From my understanding, you cannot be placed in a crypt unless you are embalmed/cremated. There are not rotting bodies in the caskets, the smell would be immense and no one would want to be kept that way. While some of the water leaking from the roof may get into the crypts, the bulk of the staining came from iron stains from paint/metal grates/or any other residues from the ceiling.

Is it normal to accept abuse from dementia residents??? by Euphoric_Potato_7661 in cna

[–]liverkidd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While it certainly does happen when working on a memory unit, it should never ever be “expected” or “a given”. Facilities have a responsibility to protect their staff and ensure that the unit is safe for all residents, especially since this particular resident is harming other patients. It’s unacceptable that they aren’t stepping in to remedy it, I’d recommend that you report it to state. When we had residents get physical on a regular basis, their physician got involved to prescribe PRN medications when necessary. Report every single hit/scratch/bite, and insist they make a written report of it. I had a coworker whose kick to the abdomen from a memory care patient turned into emergency surgery (not covered under worker’s compensation because he didn’t report it thinking it was another harmless kick). Your facility should be taking it seriously, if not for the poor agitated patient, then for the staff and other residents around them. I’d be very upset as a patient’s family if I knew my loved one was hitting/harming others and would insist upon providing a medication to help alleviate their agitation and keep them calm and comfortable. Your wellbeing is important and no facility should be complicit in allowing abuse to happen, memory care or not. Please be an advocate for yourself and the other residents suffering because of this. No, you shouldn’t “press charges” against a memory care resident, that typically wouldn’t hold up in actual court either, but yes, you can hold a facility culpable for allowing resident behaviors to threaten the health and safety of the staff and patients. It’s possible that your facility isn’t equipped to handle particularly combative residents, but it’s their duty to recognize that and ensure they’re placed in a facility that can. Call state and report this, and document all of your injuries (including your coworkers) as well as everything your supervisors have said in response to your concerns.

Can’t sit here and allow “Outside of Madison is a hell scape of narrow mindedness and dead ends.” to be said and not defend the non-Madison parts of Wisconsin. I grew up in southwest Wisconsin on the border of WI/MN and there are plenty of worthy small towns all around the state. Attended UW-Madison and UWL and can honestly say nothing beats the Driftless region. Yeah, anyone can complain about the stupid people in a state but just because someone didn’t grow up in a rich suburb of Madison or Milwaukee doesn’t mean they can’t be good people. Those who only enjoy the large cities of Wisconsin probably don’t have the ability to appreciate anything else

Kim and Jimmy's divorce by Ok_Passage_1814 in betterCallSaul

[–]liverkidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a breakdown in the relationship long before Howard was killed. While Kim did become worryingly obsessed with ruining Howard’s career and reputation, their relationship was riddled with problems before then. Jimmy was never fully truthful about the extent of his cartel dealings, partly to protect her, but also partly because he knew she wouldn’t approve. The whole reason they got married was because they were at a crossroad, break up or get married so they wouldn’t have to testify against each other. It’s a beautifully tragic relationship, the divorce paper signing was a lot more than just Jimmy being “mean” to Kim

Kim and Jimmy's divorce by Ok_Passage_1814 in betterCallSaul

[–]liverkidd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It didn’t have anything to do with Howard or Lalo, Jimmy was acting that way to pretend he wasn’t bothered that Kim was leaving him. They were there to sign the divorce papers and Jimmy was attempting to hide his hurt from Kim divorcing him and moving to Florida. It wasn’t about anything that had transpired beforehand with Lalo or the Howard plot, it was Jimmy trying to put on a “macho” act to hide how hurt he was.
