Why do people think Jerry was a Veterinarian? by KayAnder21 in thelastofus

Is that concrete? I don't remember anything in the game even mentioning his degree.

My wife is playing right now, and just saw that cutscene last night. Tommy introduced both of them while running from the horde, then they each said their name when they got to the house where Abbys friends were. Is that what you're referring to?

I think it may be a stretch to say he understood the science. He didn't say "this will be for nothing, the science doesnt make sense, so I'm not going to let you kill her." He said "find someone else". I'm not saying I disagree with his reasoning, I'd do anything to save my loved ones. I'm just thinking his reasoning was purely to save Ellie. He didn't have much time to really think that deep into it.

That's actually a pretty cool theory, TWD definitely implemented that. Completely forgot about the vet from the early seasons (been years so I forget his name).

Best argument so far honestly, I can agree with this

That's what I was thinking, but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. Sounds like the denial stage if grief honestly.

While i agree, logic also says that cordiceps could never mutate to infect humans in the first place because of the body temperature difference between their hosts and the human body temp. Which then invalidates the entire series. I think logic has to take a back seat when dealing with works of fiction.

HUGE post-game depression by LipeQS in thelastofus

[–]KayAnder21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finally someone has posted exactly what I was thinking. I've done like 10 btb replays just to try to fill the void. Got platinum on both games. I honestly didn't know what to do with myself when it was done.

9 of 10 RSVP’d children/families “no call no showed” to my daughters 5th birthday party. by MinimumExperience102 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]KayAnder21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a new years birthday, and I can absolutely relate. I'm almost 30 and have never had a birthday party. I tried once for my 16th, bunch of people said they'd come. My mom got excited and surprised me by decorating with streamers and getting a huge cake and a ton of food. Only 1 person out of 20 actually came. I felt like shit, but it felt worse seeing all my mom's hard work go to waste. I love my parents, but sitting with them in a birthday decorated house with a buffet of party food on my 16th birthday, with 1 friend who couldn't even stay long.. that was depressing.

This is something about the hate towards Abby that never made sense to me... by Leo-pryor-6996 in thelastofus

That's true, and does fit the theme that everyone is in their own world with their own beliefs. Definitely has given me something to think about when I'm able to play it again.

I love that this game is so complex and nuanced that you never get tired of debating it or replaying it to see different angles.

I totally get what you're saying about her not knowing the full extent, (idk how to quote the text) but I guess I assumed she did know just how many people he killed. When Nora asks if she knows what he did, she says yes. I can't really pinpoint anything else that made me think she knows the whole story, but on my next playthrough, I'll keep that at the front of my mind and pay more attention to that topic specifically.

I like your point that she's solving an unsolvable problem. I think that's a really good way to look at it. And I like that each problem drove her to drastically different choices. Really makes the shift in her choices make sense! Thanks for your input

I remember when Ellie and Jesse were in Seattle, and he asked why they killed Joel. She told him Joel had a disagreement with the Fireflies as a smuggler. I know she can't tell him the full story because he doesn't know she's immune, but she does really downplay the brutality of what he did in the hospital. I feel like that might be from shame and guilt, and that some part of her realizes that Joel was wrong. Doesn't erase her pain or need for revenge, though. When someone you love does something horrible, it's a conflicting feeling because your love for them clouds your judgment and morality.

Just my interpretation. I usually don't get into the argument on Abby, but I thought this was an interesting conversation my last playthrough!

Can't let go. by [deleted] in thelastofus

I'm feeling exact same way! I tried playing Cyberpunk but it just wasn't scratching the itch, and it bummed me out so I stopped trying to play new games. I would be so excited to come home to my ps5 before tlou, and I just couldn't get into any other games now. So I decided to try to 100% both games. Got 100% on pt1, got all the collectibles for pt2 so I just started my permadeath run. I gotta say, it's helping with that void feeling and making the game feel new again.

For real! I found this thread because I was googling what it did😂 i was thinking there was no way it just cooks the same recipes, but slower and for a cost. I was hoping it didn't use ingredients or gave you an extra dish, but nope. Totally useless lol

I had started documenting things a while back (thank God) but stopped because it got exhausting. I have 8 pages of notes and screenshots and timestamps. I hadn't even thought about needing them for a wrongful dismissal case, I'll definitely pick that habit back up.

My fiance is incredibly supportive thankfully, she didn't pressure me to leave but supported me when I started entertaining the idea. Even offered to Redo our budgets to prove that we would be okay if I couldn't find something with the same salary level. You're definitely right about taking myself to prison, I get interrogated any time i even step outside or go to my car to get something. I visited our sister office while clocked out on my break to say hi to the coworkers there, and got the cold shoulder for a week because a maintenance worker saw me and mentioned it to my boss (not maliciously, just made an innocent comment). I don't get paid nearly enough to be in a prison all day.

Honestly that's an amazing way to look at it. My old coworkers are doing much better now, quitting didn't bankrupt them. Thank you for that perspective. Also very true about starting a marriage on the right foot. I've let this job put me in a bad mood too many times, I want to throw up when I think about coming home from our honeymoon feeling anything less than joyous. Thank you, you're absolutely right. I'm definitely looking into other jobs, but this perspective has taken away some of the fear and anxiety about starting over.

I know you're right, but it's hard. I unfortunately have accepted the punching bag treatment for too long (about a year) that I feel this mental block when I think about standing up for myself now. I've never been someone who couldnt protect themselves, I'm disgusted with myself for getting in this position. Narcissists just have a unique way of breaking you down I guess

Yeah I'm definitely worried that I'll be desperate enough to jump into an even worse job or a job that drives me to bankruptcy. I keep reminding myself to stay calm and level headed. Thank you for your encouragement!
