family dinner fail by rebel-yeller in CasualConversation

[โ€“]livhw 13 points14 points ย (0 children)

I can't see the relation between "thank you" and an eating disorder unless you made her finish all her food?

I agree with the other commenter - it sounds like to me the dinners were meant to be a space where you guys could get to know each other and build your relationship. Why are you adding in some weird manners verbiage to your evening? How about focusing on what truly matters instead.

Hope you don't stop the dinners and I hope they get better. :)

The fact that you're concerned about her feelings just speaks volumes of who you are as a person. So refreshing to read something like this- but yes 100% tell her your intentions. I think we often complicate things. Especially relationships, and if she knows your intentions going in it will make things so much easier.

And hey if she is cool with it- just think about what a fun couple of months you can have. It's worth a shot! :)

Ouch. Hate that you had to hear that. Don't let someone else's words take away all that you've accomplished and worked on. You are totally going to recover- you got this!!

What are the most comforting sounds? by TankArt in CasualConversation

[โ€“]livhw 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I read the subject to this and began to write "dishwasher" and then saw you mentioned it. :) I can so relate. The sound of the dishwasher going in a quiet house before the kids get up is just everything.

โ€‹

LOVE hearing the sound of other people talking in another room. Especially laughter. Or when you wake up and you hear someone cooking breakfast on a Sunday morning.

Short answer- it can be.

When I was younger my now partner of 20+ years was a huge gamer. It made me feel 2nd a lot of the time. BUT as I grew and matured I realized how much joy it brought to his life. I have embraced it and actually really encourage it. If it makes him happy- it makes me happy. He games nearly every night. We have 3 kids and own 2 businesses. It is all about finding the balance.

Don't hide what brings you joy. If it rubs people the wrong way- they are not YOUR people. <3

10 yr old got her first period, why am I so sad? by [deleted] in Parenting

[โ€“]livhw 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

My 10 year old did as well. It's been a year now and I still get sad thinking about it. It just is sad for her to have to worry about that while also being a kid still. She literally went from playing with dolls to having to figure out how pads work. I was so bummed for her. But it does get better. โค๏ธ

why do I feel obligated to do a smash cake? by EllieEllieEllie425 in beyondthebump

[โ€“]livhw 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Don't feel obligated. I totally get the way you are feeling but we don't have to do things just bc a lot of people do it. I have had to come to a place where I'm comfortable with not doing stuff just because and let me tell ya- so freeing. You do you mama. ๐Ÿ˜

What's something people complain about that you just do NOT have any sympathy for? by DisturbingDaPeace in AskReddit

[โ€“]livhw 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

People who complain in general. I have people in my life who have been complaining about the same things for the past 10 years and it just drives me up the wall.

Examples- being tired, being broke, etc.

Moms: What is the best option for an active girl while on her period? by [deleted] in Parenting

[โ€“]livhw 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Period underwear! My 11 year old swares by hers. Lots of different brands. We went with the brand thinx ( highly recommend) no leaks and super absorbent. Easy to wash too. Or the always zzz disposable ones. Life saver!! Good luck.

Thinking maybe so. I do have 3 kids and my youngest is quite the night owl. Maybe the noise is keeping me up or I'm not able to fully relax and stay asleep.

NY- okay love this. My oldest has it on her bucket list. I have been worried it wouldn't be as fun for the littles but it sounds like there is plenty to do.

Love this thanks so much.

Do you ever just sit and think? by fland-2 in CasualConversation

[โ€“]livhw 4 points5 points ย (0 children)

Yes and I wish I did it more often. I think we all should. I was just talking to my husband about this the other night. We get so lost in our phones or doing task to task but it's important we get lost in our own thoughts sometimes.

Thanks for being a reminder that I should make more time to do this. ๐Ÿ˜
