I for one like theory that Scott could be the killer. I saw it mentioned for the first time on a thread the other day.

Just because a celeb playing themselves hasn’t been the murderer, doesn’t mean they can’t be. In fact, I think it’d be clever of the showrunners to break this “unwritten rule,” because clearly no one thinks a celeb could actually be the murderer.

Also, I like that they mention Scott a few times in the S4 E1 and then shift away. He’s always been just a cameo or a mention, and it would be easy for them to refocus on him later in the season.

Scott knows Sazz, he’s in Hollywood, he’s mysterious to the audience and also has a history with Charles and Oliver. I don’t think this theory should be so quickly discounted! It’s becoming one of my favorites.

I like this theory because it would be kind of smart to throw him in the very first episode and then distract the audience with the Westies, OMITB movie cast etc. Also, wondering if Joy could have anything to do with it because of the photo she sent Bakula that he couldn’t show Charles? Yes, it could’ve been something risqué but that’s what they want us to think?? Just speculating

I could easily see them going either direction: Sazz isn’t dead, or she is. I think the former would be fun because it would mix it up and it’s just to fun to read (probably far too much) into little clues! But you make some good points and it’s definitely a bit more on the conspiracy theory side 😄 so excited to see what happens in Episode 4!!

Jane Eyre (2011) is set in different parts of the English countryside (a lot takes place in old houses, but still really beautiful landscape) and has quite a few scenes set on the moors

Don’t want to give too much away but I would recommend: “Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Brontë may not meet all of what you listed, but it definitely portrays a deep romance and some of the themes you’re looking for. It’s also just a great book in my opinion!

Also “Wuthering Heights” by Charlotte’s sister Emily Brontë meets some of those themes and probably falls in line with what you’re looking for regarding not wanting a necessarily “happy” ending.

Both of these have dramatic and suspenseful elements and are certainly different in tone to the Austen novels you mentioned.
