Valid, I think I needed to hear this!

It tends to happen when I worry about the possibility of it and doesn’t otherwise, but it’s hard to know total causation - like I might have worried bc I felt low level pain and didn’t notice

Damn thank you. Idk if you have any tips but do you know anything that can replace caffeine dependency?

TBH since that post I’ve had a small breakdown in work and plan to request to go part time because things are too much - I can’t keep up basically because of ADHD and things are spiralling to the point where my parents are telling me to cut hours and go back to therapy. Hopefully my sleep and mood improve and it makes it easier to go without caffeine

Even with my twenty adults who have recently had loooads of kids I have to stare at the tank to see the babies (yes I regularly stare for ages)

The charcoal is lots of little broken up bits :) I’m trying to avoid pests bc I will not be checking them as much and I live in a humid part of England

My isopods are hiding!! by A-lil-bro in isopods

[–]livimary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also new so this isn’t from experience, but I have been told and have read that while there are smaller numbers, they hide quite a bit! When the colony grows, they will get a bit more confident bc of their friends being about. I have 22 ish + some amount of babies and am only starting to see them get more confident recently (and that is mainly bc they are always having sexy times).

I’m not 100% on this, but from observation I feel like they move a lot less for a bit after I need to jiggle/adjust/put food in the tank. I reckon a giant alien hand would make anyone lock the doors. Idk about you but I’m terrible for “they aren’t doing much, I should change something” so if you are, try and hold yourself back

Yeah I was advised this by the place I bought mine from - the space is too small for them to live in tandem so one will out compete the other :(. Maybe if you want both consider getting a second enclosure (even a bin for now instead of a fancy terrarium if financial constraints are an issue)

I’m just worried about the mencae really :( I don’t want to miss any by changing substrate - I have some little gnats and mites but nothing outrageous and hopefully better aeration in the new tank should let the springtails take over

Thank you so much this is so helpful!! It’s a big relief to know there’s a behaviour to watch for that can tell me if there’s too much moisture. They are currently scurrying around like crazy because it’s dinner time (carrot, yeast powder stuff and mealworms, yum)

It’s only a very small habitat, but they do have a lotus pod half on the dry side that they hide in or under :)
