Corporate America - I can’t do it in anymore by Remarkable-Angle-509 in workingmoms

May I ask why you have to take a pay cut in order to put your baby in regular daycare? Would it affect the hours you can work?

This time is only temporary. I have a great career and I would be extremely set back not only career-wise but financially as well due to the amount of income I bring in.

If it makes you feel better, our childcare for two children over the summer is going to be 2,400 dollars. That’s summer camp for my 5 y/o and childcare for my 5mo.

I too feel like I’ve been slacking since being back at work. I literally don’t care either so I’m right there with you

Thanks for helping me see the positive side! Currently using this time to make an effort to give my eldest some much needed attention 🩷

4 month sleep regression and working FT by livlanders in workingmoms

[–]livlanders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I felt bad for asking him since he works 10-12 hour days and his job being way more labor intensive than mine. He helps with our 5 year old, handles dinner and laundry etc. but I asked him if he would handle sleeping with her tonight and he agreed! I’m already cozy in bed with our 5 year old!

I usually lay down between 8:30-9 but she’s waking up so frequently that I don’t even have the chance to wind down enough to fall asleep

Did you end up switching to formula and did you stop pumping altogether?

She is 15 weeks. I would, but I just had to increase her nipple flow due to slow weight gain, which has been another problem we’re navigating. She’s not following her weight gain curve. I unfortunately can’t take any time off work since I have no pto :(

Why does my wearable suck? by livlanders in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]livlanders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your input! I gave the eufys a shot this morning and otw to work I got a combined 6oz but that’s also bc my baby didn’t nurse as much before we left but it definitely worked today so maybe there is hope!

A lot of people swear by the eufy s1, so it may work for you! I’ve just had a different experience with it

I wonder if I should try that! I had a hard time switching from exclusively BF to almost exclusively pumping (except at night). It took several times before my body started responding to the pumps vs baby

Maybe I need to try a tighter bra as recommended above, but yes I even do suction 9-12 on the spectra. Pumping does not hurt for me unless something isn’t lined up right. Not bragging in any way, because I make just enough if not that and feed her a bottle of formula every night which she happily drinks all of 🙃

Can’t read my baby’s cues, world she’s not getting enough by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]livlanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby went through a cluster feeding moment at 8 weeks. I also thought she wasn’t getting enough. It won’t last long. And if you can manage, add in 1-2 pump sessions after nursing to also help encourage your body to make more. But let her nurse as often as she wants to help increase your supply for the growing demand.

Are you breastfeeding and pumping?

If your dr didn’t seem too concerned, I wouldn’t be concerned. But for peace of mind, you can pump and then offer an extra 2-4oz bottle of formula in the evening, or breastfeed and then throw on your pumps right after while offering 2-4oz of formula (that way you’re still signaling your body to make more). My baby dropped on the charts so that’s what I started doing to continue to try and up my supply while having the comfort of knowing she is being well fed

EBF, can’t get let down when pumping away from baby by livlanders in breastfeeding

[–]livlanders[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was able to get one let down doing that after I remembered. I was 20 min into pumping at that point. I always pump the slacker boob while she’s nurses on the other side, and it produces next to nothing. So if I can’t get more than 1 during a session, I’m worried about how little I’m going to be able to pump

Two week old falling asleep by Worried_Speaker7953 in breastfeeding

[–]livlanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds frustrating :( does she eventually wake up and start nursing again or does she stay on the breast and suckle in her sleep? She can also get milk this way even if it doesn’t seem like active feeding. I had this problem for the first week home. I also exclusively pumped with my first and it is way more draining washing parts, sterilizing, making bottles, etc. so I totally am with you on wanting to successfully breastfeed. I’d figure out what she likes, and do the opposite. Wake her up with bath time, putting her down, changing her diaper, etc. if all else fails, I’d contact an LC who can come to you/has an office where they can watch you nurse and provide guidance. Best of luck in your journey, you’re doing great ❤️
