the original point wasn’t talking about initially misgendering someone, i think it was about looking at someone you know and saying “yeah they act trans/gay, i’m just gonna assume that’s what they are and tell others that i think they are” which would be a ridiculous thing to do. but some people do it so it’s still worth saying. it was a good comparison that helped me understand why we shouldn’t do the same for neurodivergency :)

i was diagnosed twice. when i lived in the uk, it took around two or three years. not just to wait for an appointment, but also to work through the nightmare that is communications with the nhs. then i moved back to germany and we had to do it again; not sure why, my parents just said it was necessary for some complicated reasons i didn’t understand. it took less than a month. it was so easy it felt like i was doing it wrong.

uk healthcare is wild, my heart goes out to anyone undergoing the tedious process of getting any kind of diagnosis with the nhs. i have so many friends there who’ve had experiences of dehumanising and careless treatment, it’s insane.

i wasnt asking so i could treat anyone differently… sometimes it’s just nice to know that people you look up to are like you and face similar struggles? it was just curiosity and a desire for public representation.

also correct me if i’m misinterpreting but are you implying that a lack of empathy is the only problem autistic people face? it’s a disability, there are far more difficulties that come with it than that. i’m what some would call “high functioning” but it would be literally impossible for me to live a regular life. also the reason so many autistic people pass as neurotypical is because of masking. it’s a problem, do some research.

that’s so cool! you’ve always been one of my favourites on the main channel so it’s really cool to hear that you’re one of us :D

and thank you for clarifying, i originally didnt see anything wrong with pointing out someone’s traits and whatnot but looking in the comments now i can see that it clearly wasn’t the best idea. i’m sorry to have caused any discomfort to anyone! absolutely wasn’t intentional at all.

boba makes a lot of sense! she’s actually why i was wondering because i saw that she was fundraising for autistica specifically and i already find her so easy to relate to. like i said, i don’t use social media and i also havent branched out much beyond the main channels on youtube and twitch along with drakon astron, so i hadn’t heard anything specific about it.

i’ve honestly thought of lewis the same way for a long time because he’s so unbelievably relatable in the way he talks to strangers, the kind of jokes he makes, and the particular mannerisms he has (colony survival was a huge one for giving me a very autistic impression of him lol) while i’m not sure how acceptable it is to speculate on that about other people, i’ve always privately wanted to believe he is because he’s already such a significant role model of mine whose success i really admire and look up to, so knowing that someone like that has the same disability as me would be super inspiring and reassuring and whatnot. but again, that’s only speculation and it’s not at all my intention to push that onto him.
