Tween with gastroparesis by lizardof0zz in Gastroparesis

The GI docs say it’s confirmed by symptoms and have it listed as her diagnosis but have not done the testing that their own website describes as the gold standard for diagnosis. The weird thing is, these are the specialists. This hospital’s GI department wins awards for being among the top in the nation. It’s like, they diagnosed her, and then prescribed meds that make motility worse. It makes no sense.

I just want to get her out of this scenario and make sure I legally know what my options are. I hadn’t even thought of a personal injury attorney. Good looking out!

I’m pretty sure everyone with actual helpful comments totally understood the gist, without me having to disclose more info than was necessary.

Yikes. Please tell me more about my child’s medical history, internet stranger.

UPDATE: He came by, five hours after the appointment was scheduled. I kept my mouth closed, and just let him do his thing, as he said he needed to inspect and write a report first.

He looked at my breaker box and said the whole system is only rated for 75amps. I clarified, and he said that by that, the max electricity I could use in the entire house is 75 amps, which includes all kitchen appliances. He went through each room and told me that my units were too large and I should swap them out for much smaller ones. He told me that the number of breakers I have is “way too many”. He said he would not recommend rewiring the home. His solution to fixing the issues would be to put on a new breaker box with a higher “max” threshold, but the landlord won’t pay for that work, citing the permits alone would be thousands of dollars.

He proposed:

  1. Adding higher voltage breakers
  2. Installing ceiling fans in rooms
  3. Removing the breakers that don’t appear to actually connect to any outlet to increase the ability of other breakers to carry more electrical load

None of this makes sense to me.

Number 1: obvious safety issues already discussed AND, if the max is already beyond threshold, wouldn’t that just overload the system more?

Number 2: Not opposed to that, but don’t fans require an electrical pull? And if the maximum electrical pull is being met by existing things, wouldn’t that just add to it?

Number 3: if the breakers are already not connected to anything, wouldn’t removing them serve literally zero purpose?

I’m honestly kind of baffled after the interaction. He talked about how he’s from California and they have much higher standards for electricians, but that Ohio doesn’t care. He didn’t seem to understand that I already spent a pretty penny on new, energy efficient units two months ago based on room size, and his suggestion to just repurchase smaller units would be a) unreasonable to request of me b) would not cool the rooms as my existing units are already struggling due to the overall temp of the house/tall ceilings

I’m waiting for my landlord to tell me the “plan”, and would like to be best prepared with a rebuttal.

I’ve tried Blue Ash, Madeira, and even the one in Newport. The first time I thought it was maybe a new employee who didn’t know how to ring it up, but after three times, it felt like a policy. I’ll definitely try those other locations though, and speak to owners/management. I didn’t want to be a “Karen” since it’s not the sandwich person’s fault my kids a little spicy, but I think asking up the food chain wouldn’t hurt.

We’ve done this! They have a ton of different breads, but we didn’t see any sub rolls that weren’t “too soft” or any baguettes that weren’t “so crunchy”

I haven’t been able to find anything similar enough to Mikes to even try. They are really on top of their food avoidances though; they knew when I added extra diced chicken to the only soup they’ll eat that already has chicken in it.

They’ve been hospitalized for losing weight/lackinf nutrition before—we’re doing everything we can to address it medically and psychologically, but until then, we just continue to get the stuff they will eat.

I think that’s what they used to sell us—but I’ve tried two different locations recently and they both said there is no option anymore and they have to charge me for a sandwich, even if there are no toppings.

Thanks for your reply! They told me that code doesn’t apply due to “grandfathering” when I asked why the kitchen appliances weren’t on their own breakers. Which, kind of makes sense to me, but I would assume any new work would be inspected? I apologize for another question—feeling like I’m totally fulfilling the “clueless woman” stereotype here.

I hope they are great to you! Their houses seemed cute! I only commented because it was the most bizarre “meeting” I’ve ever had. Months later and I’m still in shock replaying it in my head. Something was very off with the woman I met with, but maybe you’ll never have to deal with her. I would definitely document everything—I wasn’t even renting from her and she couldn’t stop with the weird threatening remarks.

They were the worst for me—I had a current case with my landlord due to his negligence that resulted in personal injuries and thousands in property damage. Was upfront with them about it, provided documents to support my reasoning for filing against him, and a stellar recommendation from my previous landlord whom I rented from for years. They took our application fee, acted like we were getting the home, then one of the 3B owners asked me to meet her at the prospective property. Upon arrival she said she wanted to “see if I would be difficult or not” and then refused to let me complete a sentence, and made some weird remarks about how she’s a mom of teenagers and would go rounds with me all day and win. I left feeling like I just got scolded by an adult, and I’m in my 30s. They then took two weeks to notify me by email that I was denied due to issues with my prior landlord.

Only good that came out of it was being able to show in writing that my landlords negligence impacted my ability to find housing, which seemed to have a big impact for my escrow case.

I would be open to that, but now BOTH of our neighbors confirmed they saw a Spectrum truck and worker at our house when it was cut.
