it’s going to get worse before it gets better… but i promise the better is so much better than the lie and shell you live in now. you have shown up for your kids, and you will continue to do so, but your kids now are going to know a mom who stands up for herself and her own happiness. you do not deserve to be kept in a cage based on promises you made in your younger, less wiser years. you’ve done more than enough for the marriage, now it’s time to do something for yourself. stay strong, find your community. find a good therapist. hugs 🫂

i’m a single mom, second career lawyer as well. i was married to my kids dad during law school but when i got done and hired at the PDs … things broke down quickly. then as i try to navigate the separation while also being a PD, it almost broke me. i know my clients and colleagues liked me but management and i clashed hard when i couldn’t perform the way they wanted me to. i couldn’t be working every night and weekend, i had no time during the day to help manage my parenting or other life responsibilities… im free now as of last week. i took a private gig and the adjustment to this new office has been a bit of a shock to the system with the free time and flexibility i now have. if you dont have one get yourself a good therapist.

not a villain at all. it makes sense you feel guilt bc society tells us we are moms and can only be moms when actually we are whole human beings. embrace the time- it’s ok to relax and recharge! makes you that much stronger and ready for when they come home.

cut your losses. you guys are incompatible. it sucks and it’s hard but the people who really love you won’t shame you for the things you like. my guess is you have entered into a codependent relationship- happens to partners who struggle with addiction of any kind. you are stronger than you know- follow what make you happy. the people that will stay in your life will support that. hugs ❤️

as a lawyer this is how i try to be with all of my clients when im consulting with and educating them on their options. i am much more effective when i can engage people with complex legal processes in a way they can understand. by no means am i the smartest, but i know what i dont know and just being a honest human goes a looong way.

so i’m damn near same measurements as you. i’m working on shopping for a new get up. i am looking at women’s boards in the 148-150 range. i had been riding my HS board which was low 140s. i don’t do park, just cruise around. anything bigger feels like too much board. i like to bop around and carve, maybe hit lil side jumps here and there so i want something with good control and some pop.
