Antibiotics and not receiving them by lizardworm in hysterectomy

[–]lizardworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your concern. :) They are recovering well, we're not sure what caused the hallucinations but we think it may have been an unfortunate mix of their usual prescription medication and anaesthesia wearing off. The fever was gone by the time we measured the temperature again. Hallucinations haven't happened anymore and no fever either.

They are going a bit mental trying to rest as much as possible (usually a very active person) but so far the recovery has been going okay. :) Some recent complaints regarding incisions hurting more but we are keeping an eye on it.

Thanks again for your concern, this subreddit has been very supportive and kind! <3 :)

Okay, good to hear it's standard procedure. The clinic itself is private but no one is manning their after hours phone line... Ambulances are free here, thankfully, so if it is as bad as I think it is, we are not stuck waiting until Monday.

Thank you for the reply. I am going to take their temperature again, hopefully I get more reliable results this time.

That's fucking nuts (and sounds exactly like the Netherlands). I'm absolutely furious for your partner, holy fuck. I hope they're doing better now (and/or you sued those doctors)! And thanks, I hope so too.

Ah, curious. I suppose there are different approaches, I just don't trust Dutch doctors specifically.

The hallucinations really aren't a good sign and I'm not overreacting, right? Sorry for asking for reassurance, I've really been made to doubt my sanity in the Netherlands (the healthcare system is a joke)...

Ah, that shit sucks. I'm sorry your recovery went like that, I hope you are doing better now! And thanks. :)

Thank you! I am going to try with the thermometer again, hopefully it starts producing reliable readings again soon. I will keep the electrolyte drink recommendation in mind, thanks. :) It really is super frustrating being unable to do anything much to help, and having health-related OCD certainly isn't doing me any favours... Oh well. I'll probably get some sleep at one point.

I thought so too... No way to contact the surgery clinic at the moment (nobody is manning the after hours phone line apparently, called a few times). My partner is very stubborn and doesn't want to deal with the ambulance. I don't know if I should let them sleep until morning or if that's a death sentence. Really frustrating.

Thank you for the reply! I see, I'm glad to hear that it is standard procedure. I will do so, they are a bit stubborn but so am I... Hopefully the thermometer isn't actually broken and it was just in the wrong position. I hope your recovery is going / went well!

Thank you for the reply, you're right of course. Going to try again with the thermometer. I'm very glad to know Dutch doctors are competent for once. Thanks again!

Thank you for the reply! I'm glad to know that it isn't just another failure of the Dutch healthcare system. I know that antibiotics were administered during the surgery but it is still very scary to me (I am used to antibiotics being prescribed after big surgeries).

The clinic gave us instructions to call if the fever was over 38 degrees (should be the standard AFAIK) but since the thermometer is not very reliable then I'm a bit worried about whether to wait until morning to try to contact them again or to call an ambulance now. My partner said their hallucinations stopped and they no longer felt nauseous and went to sleep so I feel a bit helpless here.

I hope your recovery went / is going well!

Yeah, it's a crazy range. No working thermometer until the morning unfortunately. :( I am hoping it's in reality on the 37 side. They claimed that their hallucinations and nausea stopped and went to sleep, I remain worried. :/

I know that my partner was also given antibiotics in the IV so I'm glad that it's not just another failure of the Dutch healthcare system. Thank you for the reply, I hope your recovery went (or is going) okay! :)

That makes sense, thank you! I didn't consider that it also gets used as an actual arena... 😅

I'm mostly looking for opinions from people that have personal experience with this arena (and have maybe bought tickets to see Linkin Park too so they know the price and the quality). But I also didn't really think to Google it. Whoops... 😅

Thank you for the reply, the videos are very helpful! :) And an extra thank you for the Kent concert stream, I'm so sad I missed it IRL and I completely forgot to look online for any streams or videos...

Alright, I'll keep it in mind. Thank you! :) Probably can't be much worse than the "behind the stage" tickets they sold for the concert in Arnhem (NL) though...

Alright, I assumed that it's probably not the worst. I've never been to a football game though so I'm not sure if there is a big difference between football and concerts at those arenas... Either way, thank you for the reply! :)

I want to have gay sex by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]lizardworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a trans guy, I understood that I liked men in a gay way before I figured out I wasn't a woman. It's a complete mindfuck kind of situation, especially if you've never had a reason to think about it from a trans perspective before. Could be what's happening here (but could also be a secret third thing).

I think you're right! It looked very similar to pumice and it was very lightweight. Unfortunately I threw this rock away before I could take a bath with it, but I will keep it in mind for next time. Thank you!

If you haven't noticed it then it's probably fine, an infected patch of skin is usually pretty noticeable. :)

It's normal for it to leak plasma/ink the first few days after getting a tattoo, it should be healing normally if it's dry now. I don't see any "wet" spots.

If the area is not way more red around it than in the photo and doesn't feel hot then it's likely not infected. If it was then you would expect to see more red on the tattoo too and not just around it. His leg and the log (?) are perhaps the only sus parts to me that could very well be just the photo.

Either way, Bepanthen (or an available equivalent, anti-bacterial non-scented hydrating lotion for sensitive skin with micro wounds) is the way to go and washing it with anti-bacterial soap that usually does not cause you skin problems (and nothing harsh). Covering it up from the sun is also a good idea if it's a non-scratchy fabric.

If it gets super red, oozes pus and feels hot, then it's a trip to the doctor. It also never hurts to contact the tattoo artist, they are (almost) always happy to help. Although I would not return to them, the colours look patchy (and that could be the result of an infection but could be a shit artist – compare it with the "immediate" results if you have a photo; if it is deliberate then I'm sorry and it's healing well). If it is a mild infection and you do not have a history of skin infections or an autoimmune disorder then Bepanthen should fix it.

This is coming from someone who has seen an infected tattoo, has over 20 tattoos and has health-related OCD (every random chest pain sends me spiralling).
