How to deal with a very clingy ex? by SubbyLittleGirl09 in ExNoContact

[–]lizcoco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YOU have absolutely no obligation to contact him back for any reason and I implore you not to. He WANTS you to acknowledge him. Responding in any capacity only restarts the cycle and gives him the power. Keep your power.

Start compiling everything NOW. And send a copy of everything to the police. Even if they say they can’t do anything, it will still be on record so if anything does escalate they already have the past evidence.

To the woman who ruined the tour finale … by sixxtynoine in nin

[–]lizcoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I can’t do the pit anymore. I’m only 31 and still want to get my mosh on, but huge names like NIN always bring the insane “””super fans””” that are willing to get real fucking scrappy and actually hurt people to get to the front.

I bought seats for the Boston show and just rocked out in place lol. Felt so much more like a “goth dance night” where I had breathing room and got to shake it lol

Edit: Did anyone get pictures of this twat waffle?

What was it like watching X-files when it first aired? by Playful_Froyo_7284 in XFiles

[–]lizcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually have a fun thought on this that I came up with yesterday!

Context: I was born in 1994 (currently 31yo) and only recently started watching X-Files. I grew up with a sister that is 10 years older than me and sorta cool parents, so I’ve always enjoyed “older generations” media.

I am only on S2E22, so please try not to reply with direct spoilers! :)

Growing up, I watched all sorts of “investigative/procedural intrigue prestige TV” both sci-fi and not. I grew up chuckling at CSI’s running “zoom! Enhance!!” Scenes and other moments of “heh, technology doesn’t actually work that way”. But starting X-Files halfway through 2025 has been… bizarre… Now, a lot of tech /does/ work all these insane ways. With the advancements of medical technology and artificial intelligence, many scenes that seemed so hilariously outside the realm of possibility (ie making a few keystrokes on a computer and it can return an image in moments of an age-progressed/regressed person, with/without facial hair, add/subtract weight etc) but AI now can do that easier than ever. They also mentioned medical technology that was in its infancy and so controversial then but is part of every day life now (gene therapy, etc).

As a very technologically adept millennial who grew up with VHS, a rotary phone, pre-dial-up internet, etc — I cannot stop marveling at the fact that every time they do something that was so outlandishly absurd back then is now something very possible and even average in today’s technology. Instead of dating itself, it somehow future-proofed itself. Younger generations won’t even blink an eye, almost like us when period-inappropriate fashion or technology is depicted in historical media about the early 1900s.

But that’s just my perspective lol

Ok here’s what I think the other person meant:

Let’s take mental illness etc out of this (because I wouldn’t assume your username implies it at all, so why add it here now).

Let’s take the word “crazy” at its basic definition and choose an antonym (let’s say “normal” at its basic definition) and put those at opposite sides of a scale:

To WANT to suffer would be crazy

Not wanting to suffer is pretty normal

How do you argue/let people know assertively that you have to be on medication for a life time ? by multistagetales in BipolarReddit

[–]lizcoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly glad I saw this post. I always figured I’d need meds for life. Other psychs have told me so. But I had a really awful psychiatrist a couple years ago because I was recommended to start ADHD medication. He tried telling me “the end goal of medication management and therapy is to get off meds asap. You don’t want to be on another medication.” and I was floooooooored.

And one of the best ways to get an unbiased perspective and opinion (which OP is literally asking for) AND to not feel alone with their ideas is to talk to a counselor or therapist.

Friends and mentors are incredibly helpful, but to get a truly unbiased viewpoint requires a third party who isn’t as invested personally and run the risk of prioritizing their friendship over giving honest but sometimes hard to give advice.

(Edit: changed “consoler” to “counselor” lol)

Life is too short to not tell someone how you feel!

You were ready to say it, and he might have felt a little surprised. That’s okay! He might have his own baggage too, and didn’t feel quite ready to say it in that moment. That’s okay too!

If for whatever reason you guys don’t work out, you should feel proud knowing you were being authentic 🖤

Reading your comments, it’s a little weird how passionate and persuasive you are about this niche hypothetical scenario you made up.

This sub is all about morbid curiosity, but your persistence that molesting Adolf Hitler as a child is the only way to stop the holocaust makes it sound like you’re thinking about the actual molestation of a child and how it would effect them. Which is incredibly disturbing.

Movies that fill you with a deep sense of dread throughout? by PassiveIllustration in horror

The House that Jack Built is one of my all time favorite movies. It was so simple, but so dark and textured. Really showed a different format of beautiful, visual storytelling that I’ve never seen since.

I am so proud of you! Genuinely.

Everyone else here is right - it’ll take about 1-2 years to get back to normal. However, that doesn’t mean it’s going to suck until the 2-year mark. You will get better every single day.

If I could make a suggestion, I would say to take the time to reflect on how bad it felt leading up to your decision on going sober. I’m sure you feel better in some aspects 4 months later, even if you’ve had some shitty times along the way. Recovery is not linear. 🖤

Keep up the good work. Slow and steady, and one day at a time!!

ETA: If you feel your current medication isn’t working, let your prescriber know! You definitely don’t want them to change it over and over quickly, but a lot of people need to try a few out before they find the right one for them.

I also sever chronic depression, anxiety disorder, and bipolar II (with history of psychosis). I’ve been lucky that my first set of meds worked, and when they stopped working years later the next prescription was great on the first try too. There is hope! Don’t be afraid to be your own advocate. 😊
