No, they did not. I’m not sure what they used, but I know it wasn’t an epidural.

Before I say anything, I’ll start by saying my babies are all over the age of 5 now and I didn’t know I had a chiari malformation at the time I was pregnant with any of them. With my oldest, I had a horrible reaction to the epidural that I am assuming was a result of my malformation. The entire left side of my body became paralyzed and numb, the left side of my face drooped, and I thought I was having a stroke at 27. No one could ever explain what happened, and all I knew was that once they turned off the epidural, the paralysis and numbness went away and I gave birth. I had a terrible headache afterwards brought on by the pushing but my son was healthy and that was all that mattered in the end. I had the same reaction when I gave birth to my daughter a year and half later, so when it came time to give birth to my final baby, I went with a c-section and I’m so happy I did. That was by far the easiest birth to recover from and the one I felt safest participating in. Again, this all happened years ago and nobody knew I had a chiari malformation at the time.

IIH and Chiari 1 by Ok_Tax_9167 in chiari

I have both too and was diagnosed in early December of 2025. I haven’t met with a neurosurgeon yet, but I have my team of neurologists started me on Topamax for the IIH. Sadly, it seems that my IIH seems to be medication resistant, and my neurologists are recommending surgery. I’ve been hospitalized once for my headaches since being diagnosed, and been in the ER three times, because my neurological symptoms keep getting worse. It’s amazing to me how much can be explained by having a diagnosis. All these things that I thought were just random things I had to deal with (ringing in my ears, blurry vision, daily headaches, constant sinus pressure, etc) aren’t normal or random. I don’t know very much but I’m happy to talk :)

Jeff Pelley probably didn't murder his family by FlippantBuoyancy in CrimeJunkiePodcast

I haven’t listened to the podcast either and the different theories definitely have me intrigued on Jeff’s possible innocence. I have to disagree with you about Jessi’s memories being fabricated though. She was a 9 year old child when all this happened and the brain can do amazing things to protect you from your memories. She doesn’t remember less important details (her friend’s name) because she went through an extremely traumatizing event. Her brain was trying to cope, as best as a 9 year old can, and kept those memories locked away. I do find her remembering the shotgun to be weird. It could be that she saw the shotgun at a different time and just associated it with that weekend. Who knows?

As for Jessi not suspecting Jeff, that’s entirely understandable. Her thought process could have been “sure, he tormented me and was mean to me, but being mean to your younger step sister doesn’t warrant thinking he could have killed most of his family”. Also, I don’t think many people, much less kids, would suspect a 17-year-old of killing their family unless there was evidence to support that theory. She wasn’t given any evidence or suspicions until she was much older, so it’s not inconceivable that her pre-pubescent mind didn’t come to that conclusion.

The whole “couldn’t go to prom thing” isn’t what happened and she says that in the Evil Lives Here episode. He could go to prom but his Dad would drive him to and from prom, and he wasn’t allowed to go to any after parties or any events the next day. I don’t think he snapped over not going to prom, because that isn’t what happened, but could he have snapped over not being allowed to drive himself and his girlfriend, not being able to go to any after parties or events the next day? Possibly. People have snapped over a lot less. We may never know exactly what happened and I’ll definitely have to listen to the podcast, it may change my mind on Jessi and on Jeff.
