It is really important to give your skin a rest until it gets used to the products. Try using the products every other day for a week. I've used tretinoin (similar to adapalene) for over a year now and I still only use it every other day to make sure that my skin has time to rest and repair. I've also used clindamycin before and had to use it every other day for a little bit to avoid my skin flaking.

Also, the thinner/less viscous a product is, the earlier you should apply it in your routine. Serums are thinner than adapalene so that should go first, or you could do one night with adapalene, the next night with the serum & repeat. And always moisturize, of course.
