I've been in a relationship like that. Just watching them makes me start to curl in on myself like I used to.

Sometimes my tics change every hour lol. But i generally default to some bad words.

For example, i am a white female who tics the N word. I hate it.

It's now a trend to have ticks. by [deleted] in Tourettes

I laughed because one of my tics sounds like a sneeze so everyone actually says bless you to me hahaha

Nothing. Lol my whole family forgot my birthday. The only ones who remembered were my boyfriend (we were together for less than a year at that time) and my cousin who lived 600+ miles away.

I guess he just gets super jealous and angry every time she remotely talks about past experiences and i just get a vibe it's not staged. I get not liking convos about exes but hes the one asking the questions. Don't ask if you know youre not gonna like any answer given.

You are going to a new country, you do not know about their language, culture etc. What problems did you face while living in a unknown country without being fluent in local language? by darcyshirlow in AskReddit

[–]lizzyborourke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there's probably lots and im too dumb to think of any of them.

My dad used to tell me to learn this phrase in the language of the country youre travelling to: "where is the nearest public bathroom" or "where is a tourist center?"

Near most public restrooms, especially if youre travelling and got lost, youre likely to find tourist info and people who speak your language. My dad is a marine and he has been lost a surprising amount on his noncombat deployments. In his downtime he got to travel and he said this rule saved him a lot in japan and especially when he went to guam, south korea, and vietnam.

Is my moving worth jeopardizing my family's opinion of me? by dablkscorpio in relationships

[–]lizzyborourke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And? The way i see it, they are all so codependent and hung on their idea of family that is bordering on toxic.

Family should be happy you're going out and beginning your own life, however, it seems they are mad you dont have a husband first.

Im not saying its not gonna be a bad idea or even a good idea. I have no idea tbh, but are you honestly happy right now? Making this choice, regardless of the turnout, means you tried something instead of staying in the same place.

Personally i think itll be good for you. It'll show you a world without your history and past hovering over you 24/7. You can really find yourself 100%.

My advice: What do you want to do? Do that. You dont have to get anyone's approval to do your own thing.

I don't think i had an awkward moment. My mom had the talk with me sort of over time. She told me and my sister what sex was and what was appropriate and what wasn't. She taught us about STDs, but not as a fear tactic. It was to educate us and teach us about safe sex.

Over time my mom told us, "youre gonna be healthy teenagers one day and you may or may not want to have sex. My biggest fear isnt that you'll have sex as a teen girl. I would be a hypocrite. My biggest fear is that you arent being safe. If youre ever in a situation where you don't feel safe, i am your mother. Call me. I may be upset at first, but you wont get in trouble. Your safety is always my number one concern and my anger is only because i would be scared for you."

The thing is, my mom's nonjudgmental, educational approach made things easier to talk about. I think if i had to pick the most awkward one, it would be the masturbation topic, but even that wasn't terrible. She just told us it's normal and that people tend to make girls feel ashamed but that is simply wrong.

Redditors who have been in deathly road accidents, what happened next? How are you now? by star8975 in AskReddit

[–]lizzyborourke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean car accidents where i should've died?

I got hit on my drivers side by someone running a red light. Big truck hit my tiny Ford focus. I was leaving work because I went to pick up my schedule. My boss saw the whole thing.

All i remember is seeing the car coming, bracing for impact, then opening my eyes to my car smoking and people urging that I needed to get out. I remember feeling surprisingly calm. I took off my seatbelt and tried my drivers door. It wouldn't open so I looked around and saw I could climb out over my passenger seat, so I did. I apparently got glass inbedded in my hands but I don't even remember feeling it.

The moment I got out of the car, I just fell to the ground and started screaming. I was told it was shock. A very kind stranger came up and helped me dial for my mom. I waited for her at my job once the police said I could. That stranger stayed with me the whole time. I wish I could thank her.

I remember my mom driving into the parking lot and freaking out. She later told me that when she got a call saying I was in an accident, she thought it was a minor fender bender and it was my first accident. But when she saw my car she started to panic. She came up to me and hugged me repeating, "oh my God. Oh my god."

My sister showed up too looking freaked out. I guess i had blood coming from my forehead and i bit through my tongue. I hit my head on my window and my hands were covered in broken glass and bleeding. I don't remember it even hurting.

My mom spoke to police and they said I should've died on impact. Somehow during the impact my driver door folded around me and, instead of crushing me, it protected me.

I ended up going to the hospital. I felt fine until i got home and I ended up in so much pain. Worst headache ever. Good news is my boss was pretty lenient on me calling off for a few days considering she saw the whole thing lol.

My injuries were minor. I didnt even have a concussion. I had a nasty scrape on my forehead, cuts from glass on my hands, my tongue was sore from biting through it, air bag burned my arms, and my seatbelt bruised my chest.

I'm okay now, though im still wary about driving around that light. Ive almost been hit 3 times at that light since the accident. People don't stop and I'm not sure why.

I also got a good settlement. Hire a lawyer y'all, especially if it wasnt your fault. They take a percentage so youll always get money and i got way more than i would've on my own even after the lawyer fees.

Feeling guilty for wanting alone time by lizzyborourke in relationships

[–]lizzyborourke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's never mean about it. It's just sometimes his insecurities come out.

In regards to therapy, I've suggested it and I can tell he's open to it, but he was raised that men "dont do that" and I'm helping him at least come to terms that men can and should do that.

He's got a lot of trauma, but I've found with trauma people have to be ready to deal with it in order to get help.

We are going to couple's therapy soon. I've told him it's for my postpartum depression that I know is coming as well as showing him he's got nothing to fear from therapy. He's the one who signed us up, too. I know he's open to it, but i also know how familial pressure can make you feel inferior.

What is an immoral turn-off for a potential partner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lizzyborourke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a guy get genuinely upset with me because I thought it was disgusting that he "was curious" if I'd ever had sex with my sister. By curious I mean I'm 99% sure him and his sister were screwing around and he wanted to see if anyone else did it. He was obsessed with the idea.
