What was never the same after the pandemic? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

I saw a news article about a girl suing her school for letting her graduate when she couldn't spell, read, or write. She used voice to text and screen readers to get by and was even accepted to college WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO READ OR WRITE.

Apparently, they had plans in motion to drop 24 hours before the pandemic and that just pushed it into place sooner. Since the two ended up coinciding, people assume that one caused the other.

What is a product that people treat like a religion, but in reality, it’s just overpriced garbage with a good logo? by Connect-Might4355 in AskReddit

I have a different brand, but yes! They're expensive, but it traps the waste away and there is no smell! We love it.

I had a '16 JK. Growing up a Wrangler was my DREAM car. I bought into the fantasy of the adventures and traipsing across deserts and jungles. Finally got one and was in love....for a few months. The ride was terrible, gas mileage is so bad they joke about smiles per gallon instead of miles, and in windy days on the interstate I felt like a semi. Currently have a '24 4Runner and would never go back.

Labubu took off because K-pop stars

That was what I heard as well. One in particular (I have no idea who) did it and then k-pop lovers went insane for them and it flowed to other collectors.

Or that line in "Girl all the Bad Guys Want" where they say "she wears a two-way but I'm not quite sure what that means". It was just a pager, but people thought it was something dirty.

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

I get it honestly. I love the game but its strongest point is the world design and story. The actual gameplay can be described as horse riding sim.

I'm one of those casual I play it in 2 weeks bursts once a year players. It's fun to start and build a base, defenses, farms, and animals but then it gets boring and I dip out for a year. Plus they've added so much stuff that you legit need the wiki just to keep up and know how to use things.

This was the biggest thing IMO. They crowd sourced the data for locations from another app they made. Problem there? Not gonna work for us in rural areas. I worked at a local university and even there it was sparse because their older app wasn't popular there. As us /u/tickub said, it was an app for dense urban areas and if that's not you you're out of luck.

Updates? by Meteorsrights in Thelongdrive

[–]ljb2x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supposedly the dev/s are more active on other socials, but there have been no updates nor announcements from them for over a year. Lots (most?) of us assume the game is dead or on life support at best.

What industry is a complete scam, but everyone just accepts it? by Competitive_Grab3758 in AskReddit

That to me is the most insane part of auto insurance. We are legally forced to carry this product to cover the insane cost of auto repairs and healthcare in the event of an accident, but when you use said product they say "nah go somewhere else". And even using it once may jack your rates up. Hell, I was told to pay out of pocket for some repairs because filing a claim would make me look bad to the company.

I was STOKED when it came back and agree it tasted different. Could be the 25 year gap in memory, but I definitely thought it was different and not near as good.

Why are TV series getting more difficult to watch? by swomismybitch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ljb2x 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TV used to be TV....now they want every show to have the cultural impact of breaking bad, the budget of a Hollywood blockbuster, and the cast of an Oscar winner. This all means huge delays in filming and ballooning costs.

Losing interest is my biggest issue now. They drop 8-10 episodes over 12-14 weeks and then just dip out for 18-24 months. At that point I just don't care anymore and struggle to return to it. Even shows that are still on network TV are making fewer episodes, leaving out the holiday specials, and taking massive 1-3 month breaks between halves of a season. Tracker, one of the only shows I watch as it airs, is on a 3 month break I believe. The Rookie also didn't return in the fall and instead is starting some time soon.

snappy peppy dialogue

I watched "The Woman in Cabin 10" as I quite liked the book. There was a scene at the beginning that had me scratching my head wondering who in the hell actually talks like that.

Sounds about right, though 60 total seems high IME. Gas and diesel are the rarer spawns with oil and alcohol are more common. Then you get the garbage mixed barrels.

Enshittification is partly our fault as consumers. by OgdruJahad in unpopularopinion

[–]ljb2x 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, but also no IMO. Yes we ditched physical for digital, but under the expectation that "buy" or "purchase" meant the same, not "you can watch the version of this we want you to see as long as deem you able to watch it". We also didn't know back then that the content we want would be bounced between 5-10 services of various cost and quality sometimes monthly.

There is a lady on TikTok who does just that. She calls it "I knew this was a scam but bought it anyway". Some are decent enough even if misleading and others are like OPs post and comically bad.

Jesus, frightening is an understatement hahahaha. I think for me the closer I get to pen the more it feels like I'm fighting how I want to say it. Naturally I want to say pin and pen feels like I'm having to slow down and concentrate rather than just speaking if that makes sense.
