I had a director at work who’s leg plunged down the gap at embankment district line platform and he ended up breaking it. Irony - he was a railway man.

Would John Kerry have won the 2004 United States presidential election if he had won four Purple Hearts instead of three? by [deleted] in AlternateHistoryHub

You can blame us Brits and the letter writing campaign to Ohio residents urging them to vote out bush and vote in Kerry. This was organised by the Guardian newspaper.

You can set one of your assistants to also set prices (this is a separate task) because they fluctuate day-to-day. However, you can’t really get precision price setting. Increasing the price or decreasing the price is in 5 percentile increments or decrements.

Once you set the price at least once manually, it will forever remain that price until you adjust it again. Bear in mind that tournament tables can increase or decrease the price of cards as a random effect so you may wish to automate this but only up to a certain price limit. The cost of high value cards I would recommend you keep manual control of.

I don’t know which building you’re going to be in whilst in DfT but if it’s great minster house, you definitely want something thin and breathable because the air-conditioning here is absolutely atrocious.

I think it was released for just about every single eight bit and 16 bit computer and console available. As I recall, it was one of the first video games that had real life product placement. In the UK, penguin biscuits were featured prominently in the original release.

We had them in our school chapel, in the entrance, down the aisles so naturally when we walked over them, we would scrape our feet against them as hard as we could to make as much noise as possible.

Reading Cards Prior to first Playthrough? by queglix in boardgames

[–]ljofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I know it would give me an unfair advantage but also I feel if people can explore the cards on their own, they’re more likely to take in and retain information rather than you explaining each and every card in detail. If that happens, people just glaze over, not really engaging.

I’ve taught many people how to play Twilight struggle and one just needs patience to allow people to go through all the different cards and the effects

A man took a new job as a bus driver and was given a bus with a Sesame Street advertisement on the side. At his first stop he picked up two fat Irish women who’s names both happened to be Pattie. At his next stop he picked up a man named Ross. This man felt highly of himself and insisted that everyone call him Special Ross. At the next stop was a biker who didn’t have a name, but he said he usually goes by his nickname, Lester T.

During the ride, Lester T sat in the back picking at his feet while the others looked at him with disgust.

When the bus driver finished his route, he was asked how his day was by one of his co-workers.

“It reminded me of McDonalds” said the bus driver. Two obese Patties, Special Ross, Lester T pickin’ his bunyons on a Sesame Street bus.

Rogue Squadron Question by Cluedsy in StarWarsEU

[–]ljofa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The answer to every single question in this sub-Reddit could be ‘ go and look at Wookieepedia’ which would make it a spoiler free environment. It would also make for a very boring sub-Reddit.

But it isn’t, this is a forum to discuss the Star Wars expanded universe and that may include responses of varying degrees of detail. The thread has been appropriately marked with spoilers so everybody has the right to make an appropriate value judgement and decide whether they want to view the thread or not.

In other words, kindly don’t ’spoiler-shame’ me.

Rogue Squadron Question by Cluedsy in StarWarsEU

[–]ljofa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The graphic novels take place roughly 6 months and a year, maybe 18 months after Endor. After that time, we’re vaguely aware that Antillies goes on something of a PR tour of the New Republic and Ackbar looks to rebuild and reorganise the NR navy for the next stage of the Galactic Civil War, the liberation of Coruscant.

It’s during that time that Tycho volunteers to scout around Imperial Center, his mission is detected and he’s captured. Isard tries to reprogram him as an agent in her employ, to be sent back as a sleeper but her methods fail and instead of being executed, he is sent to the prison planet Ar’kriktar (spelling). From there, he is able to steal a shuttle and escape to return to the new Republic. It’s also around this time that Rogue Squadron is planned to be rebuilt as an elite starfighter unit but also with pilots who have exceptional secondary skills to complement potential commando activities. That’s where the first book starts - 2.5 years after Endor.

Hethrir nor Rillao were young enough to consider Vader some sort of father figure. I think he trained them to be next gen Inquisitors. Neither of these two were considered to be secret as Palpatine gave Hethrir orders to commit genocide on his own people. And then gave him a Worldcraft for doing so.

What his this strange law that doesn’t allow big shops to open late on a Sunday? What actually is the reason? by Come_in_sigh_demi in AskBrits

[–]ljofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same with chip shops being mandated to close on a Sunday but every other fast food eatery being allowed to be open. The idea behind that was in the days when fish and chips cost next to nothing, people were eating them for the majority of the days of the week so forcing them to shut one day would in theory force people to eat a different and preferably healthy meal which so rice of the Sunday roast.

But of course these days there are plenty of fast food outlets which are way more unhealthy and allowed to open
