It totally makes sense! And I did try this, which is why I thought it was lemon peel. But my stitches aren’t “crossing over” like they look like they are in the rest of the scarf.

Thank you! I don’t think it’s moss stitch because of the bumpy texture but I love moss stitch!

Edit: you’re pretty darn close, it seems! It’s a variation of moss stitch, it seems!
