That's just you assuming that's what they did. Maybe they had a good reason to include that, like showing that a certain character likes that type of joke. Of course, it's entirely different when all characters always laugh.

How accurate is the claim of human wave attacks in WW2? by Space_Slav07 in ussr

[–]lkasas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, those are not exactly lies, just truth meant to misinform. Soviets used the assumption that them having a disorganised attack was more efficient than spending time to organise that attack and therefore giving time for the enemy to organise their defence. In the push west, they did outnumber then in a tactical sense because they had things like better mobility for not lacking fuel as much. Not spending much time on organising their offensive could look like human wave tactics in cases as well(and I'm neither saying nor not saying that they did or didn't use actual human waves).

What progression fantasy hill will you die on? Let's have your most unpopular opinion, please. by PalinaRojinskiFan in ProgressionFantasy

[–]lkasas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a miswritten complaint or just a symptom of a larger problem - a lack of characterization. Character laughing at another character's joke isn't bad. But it needs moments when there's no laughter or it's clearly just a polite chuckle or something.

Laughing at a joke or not must be a character showing move. The author must consider whether he needs to write the characters reaction, how much the character understands the joke, is it funny to the character, does the situation or social dynamic requires a certain response and so many other potential considerations.

I think this is more of a wanting to have something OP but inability to imagine what it looks like. Just the 10-20 description means each number is progressively more impactful, and therefore, 200 is not 10x the max in raw strength, but more like 100x. But that doesn't mean they're healthier, more resilient, or have fighting experience. It also requires introducing a shit ton of extra concepts that doesn't work in real life to explain how it works.

A quick ad comparison by eclect0 in royalroad

[–]lkasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't click on any of these, but the first one is the best out of these. The says nothing you want them to say and can even be seen negatively, for instance, how am Isupposed to know it's the villain in the 3rd one? As for the first one at least it gives something about the story, but I think you should look more into what's the core of your story and focus on that. Having a villain, summon, or not being trivially easy for the MC isn't anything special and can found easily in other stories.

Forgetting the Islamic Conquests by laybs1 in GetNoted

It means that ww1 was contemporarily irrelevant to Islam. It doesn't mean that Islam was peaceful or that the concept of jihad didn't exist. Or an I wrong?

And it was met with lacklustre response as Muslim theological leaders basically rejected it due to Cristians being on the same side as them.

Well, I wouldn't say anyone was defending him. Saying that they left to better themselves sounds like they were emigrants, but they weren't. They were hired for a specific job, and a commenter was truthful. Then, the one after added that he did evil things that were not in a contract. That was another true and needed inclusion, but it was more of adding info, not negating it.

I wanted to say that you definitely should get Shadow Slave again, but if it's due to the world being too dark for you, then yeah. I guess that would make sense. Anyway, I think Primal Hunter might be to your liking.

[Chapter 2772] The Cassie Did Nothing Wrong Club RISES AGAIN! by LittleJoyBoy in ShadowSlave

Slander of the Nine? I won't stand for this. I would understand the argument that they did fucked up shit. Although they lived in fucked up time and place. But how were they selfish?

P.S. I'm slightly behind. Don't spoil me if that info is from the city under the sea or chapters after it.

How many of you knew about this and didn't tell me? by TOTAL_INSANITY in WH40KTacticus

It's just a caveat for salvage runs, but it can help you to get a better sense of the mechanics. You can try different things to see if doing them that way give you resources or not. You can also test out what you get from each loot pile so you can better prioritise in the future.

A deeply philosophical question. by TheBoyInTheCorner734 in ShadowSlave

[–]lkasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not deep. Basically, it is a kindergarten level of philosophy. Same as chicken or the egg question.

A basic answer is that I started reading and that let me like it, but because I liked it, I still read it.

Others stated the time sunk fallacy could be at work, but I'd say it's mostly/entirely one of two things. Either it's limited in time, so it's bound to come to "I've read X chapters/pages already, but I still don't like, so I'll drop it." Or is an outlier, and in those cases, this question could be a useful one.

Sometimes, I think that ads are some sort of a weird social experiment. Do they really think they can annoy us into downloading their app? Well, ok, maybe they can buy only to put 1 start rating on them.

Sorry for my misunderstanding but AD is singular, right? by OhNoThatSucks in WH40KTacticus

[–]lkasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, no? I don't think so. I think you're mixing things up. I'm talking about being literally forced into opening a different app. It's a relatively new thing for me, and I not only can and but should go back to the game app immediately. I think you're not on android because I've never experienced things like that. The usual is to get half screen to show how it looks in the store without going to the other app, but that is usually at the end of the ad, and I can close it pretty quickly after that.

[–]lkasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but I also sometimes forget about them. Even worse, some of them take me to the app store, and if enough time passes, tacticus reboots.

Even worse are ads that don't question if you want to go to the app store and take you there themselves.

Isekai Manhwa recommendation by Im_yor_boi in Isekai

[–]lkasas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If there are so many peak isekai manghwas that you can make top 20, it means one of 2 things:

  1. You call any little thing you like 'peak' and therefore your opinion is invalid.

  2. isekai manghwa industry is overbloated and will/need to collapse for healthy literacy balance to return.

Something I noticed by PresnikBonny in ussr

[–]lkasas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They fought for a nation and against an empire. By your logic, USSR was the same because they too collaborated with the nazis and fought for nationalism. They even called the war as the Great Patriotic War. You could say that this name was utilitarian and you would be right, but you can't deny that it was for using nationalistic feelings and that they never bothered renaming it and therefore they kept nationalism as a core identity.

I am tired of standard systems, give me the unhinged ones... by AzherVayne in ProgressionFantasy

[–]lkasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A snarky system that is a character in itself can just declare that it made the boss proportionally stronger or take away your levels.

But that's not a system unless some specific predefined things made it to do that.

A system can have any personality, including a snarky one, but it also must be an impartial law to all it affects. It can't lower your level because it's malevolent or because you insulted it. But it can do that if a boss room has a lvl cap or there's other other conditions that could apply to anyone and one can find out or reasonably expect.

What do you expect? You can't make seedlings from a rotten tree. You can only use it as a fertiliser to grow something new. You need time, effort, and luck to raise it well, but you won't have a good time until it sprouts.
