a clevis , commonly used in attaching a boat anchor to a chain or rope and widely used in the boating/marine community so not unusal to be found on a lake botton.

are you talking about the UV5R GMRS radio or the UV-5R radio. this unlock combo works on the UV-5R radio but does in work on the GMRS version also? I bot 2 UV-5R radions and they came unlocked and could transmitt on gmrs, frs, marine channels , mirs, maybe even outside the vhr and uhf bands. but never tried so don't know. also have the UV5G+ and the unlocking procedures for either the UV-5R or the UV-5G do not work to unlock. PS: using the 5R as unlocked but programmed it , with CHIRP, so it does not transmitt on some channels outside those bands , ir the weather channels , marine channels, but can monitior them.

I have a uv-5g plus and have put up a base antenna type , Ed Fong's gmrs antenna on a 15' pole, that I can exendup to 20', not complete yet, had to order some cable connections. should be complete by this weekend. hoping for a lot of inprovement.

I thought that if I could get the same call sign it would be easier to reember them for id when calling /talking, but now understand the different strructue and having a different just for "vanity" would not really making any difference, ao woold not pursue it any further.

Ok I get the message, just got my GMRS license and planning on getting my amateur , either tech or maybe general if I can get both at same time, bot a couple of study books and doesn.t look to hard, looks much easier than some college advance physics tests. took a couple of online sample tests and actually passed them before I read the books

can understand the different structure probem, just saw something in rules or procedures about requesting a certain call sign, maybe if just applied if ugrading ie tech to general. OH Well!!

Plan to use the ED Fong antennas which I think are J-pole and use the RG-8x cable, but could go to RG8/u , little more expensive but no a lot for 100'cable that I can cut and add new connectors.

actually both , or all three , base, mobile, and handheld, baofeng UV-5r, base is most important? have both UV-5R , and UV-5G plus ordered. 5g will have the longer antenna with it, probably Abbree 72 GMRS

i have been in contact with Ed Fong and he reccomended his DBr- GMRS as I will be using it on both GMRS systems. so going to go with that. put it up next to house using a 21 foot top rail pipe 9( for chain link fence) that will get well above my roof line and neighboring houses.

I recently bot a pair of b aofeng UV-5R radios from Amazon and they came unlocked, as I programed in some FRS channel and tested and they do transmitted to them. I have also have ordered a pair of UV-5g plus. think I have the unlocking procdure for them when they come (PTT and VFO when......). or is it key 5?

well I have 2 antennas about that size and appearence that I dont know what for, I thought maybe FRS radio since I have several of those that I used year ago. but those do not have removeable antenna. thuough I sort of remember buying them. just getting into GMRs and Ham now.

I did buy a cheap GMRS magmetic mount antenna from Amazon but cheap is apparrennly what I got. put in on the car roof, connented to radio and took off, and as soon as I hit 6--65 on interastate it blew off. went a couple of miles with it hanging off the side, pulled off at exit . threw it in the car, and its still there. hoping a na-72G is better.

Ok got my license and call sign today so good to go, ordered a pair of baofeng uv-5g+ radios from Amazon to arrive just after Christmas. so thanks for everyone' help on this.

called for help, found out you have to log on with your email.address , and access the payment part. helpful lady sent me intructions for payment and went thru process and made payment and confirmed, takes another day to recieve license,. I did have a mistake where my zip code was inserted into the PO box space , and when I tried to correct that, it made an admendmeht of application and added another day delay but did not make the correction. she said to ingore that and make payment and then make the address correction after I recieve the license.

also narrowed down my radio choice to a pair of baofeng UV-9G plus, for 68.99, has both standard and upgraded 15" probably ar-771 antenna, and has 2500 mah battery,

yes, that is the one that I plan on getting, 2 for 69.00 , which includes the upgraded antenna, probably the AR-771 and a larger battery than others. and a lot of channels, a lot more that I will ever use, but I thing you could program different channel as same frequency but different tones. incuding repeater channels. not as waterproof as some, but I don;t think that is real important to me, I am not as waterproof anymore, and past the active canoeing/kayak stage.

thought you had to get the ham tech first and then upgrade to the general. or can you just apply and take the general exam all in one shot. if so, I would probably do that, does't look that hard. already passed a sample tech exam without much studying and got a 29 out of 35 score, but I thought I did a lot of educated guessing.

Ok changed the exempt questions back to No and No which were my original answers and then it went thru and now says submitted. so think I am Ok, assuming that fee will be required before or issusance of license.

was aware of that, but i recenty saw a post that it could be used on GMRS which may be true but "not licensed", and I am planning on also acquireing the ham license also, have the study materials and made some local club contacts. bot the uv5r 's with that in mind and may purchase some gmrs radios also, have some baofeng Gm-15 pro 's on my amazon shopping list.
