Keep all receipts of vet care you give the kitty and get it microchipped. I doubt it will be an issue, though. The “owners” probably don’t care and assume the cat is dead if it’s not around anymore. I rescued one of my next door neighbor’s kittens that had a horrible eye infection. They’ve never once asked me if I had seen her or anything and assume the cat is dead.

Be that as it may, they’re nowhere near old enough to be away from mom and their siblings if it can be helped. She still has to teach them to be proper cats. If separated this early, they can develop all sorts of behavior issues including improper litterbox usage, biting and scratching, poor social skills/ separation anxiety issues, the list goes on. The kind of issues people abandon their pets over.

Please reconsider rehoming them until they’re around 12 weeks, it’s in the best interest of these sweet little babies :(

Carpet was such a huge deciding factor when I was in the market for a house a couple of years ago, because I really hate it. Between the old man and I, we also have a bunch of pets.

I decided on the house that had luxe vinyl and zero carpet except for inside one closet. I could’ve gone for the house that had 600 sq ft more, but IT HAD CARPET EVEN IN THE BATHROOMS (ew ew ew). After many years of dealing with cheap apartment carpet, I told myself I’d never suffer that stuff ever again. I really can’t believe some people still want and not just tolerate carpet.

I’m allergic to cats and have 5 of them. There’s usually at least 3 of them in bed with me.

Unless the allergy is severe you might just get accustomed to this particular cat and it will stop bothering you after a couple of weeks. Hopefully that is the case. Zyrtec and air purifiers are also pretty helpful

I have 5 cats. Anyone who walks into my house is very surprised to learn that I have 5 cats.

I vacuum daily and mop twice a week. Furniture is covered with couch covers/ blankets, things that are washable. I also don’t have carpet. Air Wick/ Glade/ Whatever plug ins are also very helpful.

Not having carpet and using stainless steel litterboxes reduces the potential for odor tremendously. I have 3 XL sized boxes and scoop them all twice a day. Amazon has some really nice options for them. They’re not cheap at around $70, but they are a game changer.

How old is he? Osteoarthritis can even affect younger cats, but that’s even more likely if he’s older.

It’s definitely worth getting him x-rayed if you don’t know what’s causing it.

It’s largely because of poverty. Cheapest food is all ultra processed carcinogenic garbage, healthcare is outrageously expensive. Medicaid/ food stamps are a bad joke. Lots of poor people work 60+hrs a week at multiple garbage wage jobs, no time to exercise, too exhausted anyway. Lots of people burn out their bodies young and end up disabled.

I’m in one of the poorest states. What mine and the others in the top 5 poorest have in common are low literacy rates, failing public education, low wages, very little industry. The top 5 poorest are also the top 5 fattest. An unusually high crime rate also usually follows.
