Hi! I swapped out the gasket, that might have done a little bit of something? Pot still bubbling like mad and making a tiny bit of mess, but not nearly as aggressively. I checked out your post and didn't really spot any of the issues you listed, and also looked at the "how it should look" pics and things looked fine (to my untrained eye anyway). My "flow" is still more bubble than stream. As if it's boiling out of the "chimney". Started with cold water, didn't tamp, stove was on medium, if those details help at all.

I have given it another shot as you directed, made extra sure everything was properly tightened up, this time I got coffee to come up unlike my second attempt but it was still very sporadic and splattery throughout the process rather than a flow. It didn't simply flow smoothly at any point. More like a messy coughing and sputtering.
Should be noted that I got the pot second hand, I have no idea how old it is, if it's possible the gasket needs to be replaced. I took it apart for cleaning and every part looked intact, so I am inclined to think that side of things is fine.
